Scratch-X as polish....

As a hand polish, I like it. By machine it tends to gum-up if you run the buffer speed too high. I've taken out some pretty nasty scratches with nothing but ScratchX and a microfiber applicator.

Well actually I've used it as a polish, but I just wanted to see what everyone else thought. I stripped my Zaino off with ISO alcohol, then clayed, then dawn washed. Then I used Scratch-x by hand on the whole car, and used Zaino Z5/ZFX. The Scratch-X took out some nasty scratches, and the finish felt really smooth before I sealed the finish with the Zaino. It looks pretty good as well.



I wanted to try a better polish, but I decided I'd give the Scratch-X a shot since I already had it.
 
Why not use something like DACP, 3M RC, or 1Z UPP instead of Scratch X? I would think that these products would work better since they were designed for more of what you are trying to do and achieve over the Scratch-X.



I had a question or two about Scratch-X myself, but I posted it in the Meguiar's forum.

Well, I had just gotten laid off from work, and I didn't know for how long it was going to be. I already had the Scratch-X, and I was trying to cut back on any uneccesary spending. I'm not broke by any means, but the work situation didn't look too good for a while.
 
By hand scratchX works really well, it's just kind of expensive at around $7 for a small tube. If using by machine, it just seems to break down too fast and gum up like DavidB mentioned.



It is decent product and is easy to use, just some better alternatives out there for use by machine. But, if you've already got it......
 
funny, I have only used scratchx to cover up a scratch temporarily. It seems to wash off with water over time even if topped by something else.



I haven't tried topping it off with zaino.
 
I've had good results with a PC and Scratch-X.



What I use is a 4" pad and a slow speed of around 2-2.5 on the scratch. Usally does the trick. Anything more serious than a light scratch I usually bring out the 3M machine polish and an orange pad.

Same experience here, I thought it was more of a filler than scratch remover.
