scratch removal

I just got my new truck and It has marks like these in a couple of places.

I'm not sure what exactly these marks are. I'm guessing it is touch up paint.

I haven't tried to do anything to it yet because I didn't want to make it worse. So I wanted to ask you guys first.

Any ideas? this is buggin the hell out of me.

Just ignore all the other specs, the truck is pretty dirty, I haven't had a chance to clean it yet.

Try some Megs Scratch X on it. If you have a PC you should be able to take care of it in a hurry. Looks like something rubbed on the truck, like a mechanic. :D

OK I found the "decoder ring" lol so a PC is an oribital buffer.

If this is touch up paint, what, if anything, can I do to make this look better?

After a better inspection i'm sure this is touch up paint, i'm guessing from the dealer. Because there are probably like 10 of these marks on the tailgate and a few more on the passenger's side quarter panel. So I doubt that anything that could scratch my truck and leave a mark behind like that could scratch it in so many places.

I may just get the tailgate painted since that is where the majority of the scratches are located.

Any Ideas to save me money if this is not necessary?

When you say "new" truck is this brand new like current model year or new to you as in used?

I ask cause if it's brand new then there's no way there should be touch-up paint anywhere on vehicle.

If it's new to you (used) why didn't you see it when you brought it?

Since you don't have a machine polisher yet, get some 3m rubbing compound or the likes (I've never used Megs Scratch X but suppose it will do) and some good MF towels.

Try that by hand (after washing down the affected area of course) and see if your making any progress.

I can see a "light" scratch in the first photo (on the bottom) the others look like what chpsk8 said. But I've gotten worse out with a high speed polisher w/ the proper pad and polish.

The truck is used with apporximately 40,000 miles

I flew up to Atlanta to drive the truck home(Orlando). The dealership basically lied to me when they described the condition of the vehicle to me. Believe me I wasn't too happy.

From the many pictures I saw there were no visible scratches.

When I arrived at the dealership in Atlanta and saw the truck I immediately noticed a giant dent in the rear bumper. I handled that.. they agreed to pay for the bumper and installation at my local ford dealer.

As for the scratches... I wasn't that worried about them. The deal was *practically* set in stone and there wasn't much I could do about it. Needless to say I still wanted the truck. It was a great price! It also had some options they didn't know about, like the audiophile sound system with 6 disc mp3 head unit and dual power and heated seats.
