Scratch on car

Hey everyone,

I had someone key my car, but they did not get down to the metal. I have tried meguiars and optimum, but still have this freakin scratch :help: ...its driving me nuts...So I figured I would ask the pros...Hopefully I can get it out this weekend that would rock.

Thanks in advance.

Whether or not it went to the metal, if it's through the clear coat, and you catch your fingernail in it when you run across it, you'll likely not be able to polish it out and will probably have to have it painted.

Don't feel bad i got keyed on both sides of my car all the way down fender to back bumper

And know it will have to get repainted .Like above if you catch your nail then it's too deep to removed by machine or a compound. Six cars where i live got the same thing.

Some are a little hard to see because its lighter...and yea its the whole way down my car :('

Even if "a" scratch is through the clear, on a light colored car it is pretty easy to atleast round off the scratch so it is not near as visible. On dark cars "black" you see the scratches much better due to the lite reflecting off of the angle and the fact that the scratch is a different color. Lighter colored cars have primer much closer in color to the paint on the outside. After looking at the picture it seems to me that this scratch can be removed, if not, it can be rounded down enough to be barely visible.

Sorry about someone keying your car. That sucks big time. Also, Karma never seems to catch up to people that do stuff like this. Unlike me, Karma's a B**ch!!

My friend gave me some of the optimum compound.

And I used Meguiars mirror glaze9 swirl remover 2.0.....but I did not use a machine just by hand...I am going to try a machine next

I think when you sayed you used meguiars and optimum products

most uf us just assumed you used a machine

I think the OC might be more then you need by machine

did thhe OC cause hasing by hand ?

also #9 is a glaze and will only hise minor defects not remove them

Sure you're not thinking about #7?? I have been able to get SLIGHT correction with #9, even with a wipedown afterwards to verify. This is from the Meguiar's website...

"Swirl Remover 2.0 is a deep gloss cleaner/polish. It removes fine scratches and swirl marks, while providing a dark, dramatic shine."
