Scratch help.

I was washing my car earlier and when I was done I reached for my 100% cotton towel that I had used the week before to dry it off. I soaked up all the water on the hood and then gazed to see a couple scratches. I never washed the towel from last week when I used it so it was very dry and hard. I ended up just finishing up the job with my squeegee but it takes a noticable time difference in the drying process with 2 100% cotton towels as compared to a longer time with the squeegee. I tried some blue bottle(forget exact name) scratch remover but it didnt do anything @ all. Would you recommend using some meguiars scratch x on this or some 3ms mark swirl remover? Im not sure as to what to try.. I also have a few bumps and scrapes from my back bumper that always get my attention when Im looking @ the rear, I've tried the scratch remover on those but to no avail.

From the pic the scratch looks pretty deep, but it's hard to tell. Can you feel it? Swirl mark remover is, like it says, for swirl marks, not actual "deep scratches". Sounds like you need a more agressive abrasive. ScratchX or similar might be worth a try if that is what you have available. (3M Fine Cut Rubbing Compound or #M Finesse It II are examples of others) The key is to use a back and forth motion, a pure foam pad and lots of patience. Work the area from different angles. If you can feel it with your fingernail then you will not be able to remove it but will only be able to reduce the appearance of it. Good luck.:up

That will take 3M fine cut rubbing compound and a lot of time! Do you have a PC or better yet a rotary buffer? My scratch's were no way near as bad as those and it took 1 1/2 hours with the compound and a PC to get them where they werent noticable.[but there still there!] Next time I do the car I'll hit it with the rotary.

I might just get some megiars dacp and scratch x and go @ it. I don't have a pc, but I plan on getting on the future.
