Scrambling...did I foul up?

Hi,
worked hard on a '91 jetta the guy wants to sell. maguired the bod and the rubber and black trim were FADED! couldn't find my 'specially formulated' prod. for this so scrambled and used tire black. oops, after thought...what happends when it rains? will the tire black leave an oil film all over the bod, or does tire black just soak in and bond? i'm fretting on this one!
 
Unless it was really buffed off well, it probably will.
Hey, just blame it on the product. That's what all the rest of us do. Couldn't be the way it was used, right?
Seriously, maybe you can get the guy to come back and you could do the black trim over with some "better" stuff you would like him to try.

say you were on a professinal detailing forum, like DC, and someone did a review of a product that you would like to try that you think is better?
