Scotchguard......tips?

I am assuming that this is the right forum since I believe that Scotchguard would be a LSP? My question is, does anyone have any tips on applying Scotchguard on seats, carpets? Is there a way other than spraying it? Can you apply first on cloth then on upholstery, rugs? Just bought a can of it for my 06 Tundra and want to use it asap. Should I shampoo these new seats first? Thanks again pros...

If your car is an 06 that should not need shampooing?...however the way that I have used it is.....clean the seats / rugs and make sure they are dry...then I use a plastic brush...spray on the SG and use the brush to work into the fibers, I do this to make sure that its spread out even...open the doors and let dry in a warm / sunny area with good ventilation...there are sprayers that give a better mist for this application (can't remember the name) but I have found for a single application like your 06 you can get a good job of it with the aerosol can....I wold also do this about every 6 months as a preventive measure
