ScotchGuard on Carpets/Upholstery?

So I just cleaned my carpets using GSRstilez's method (thanks!) and it came out pretty nice. There are 2 spots in the front that I need to go over again though, using a better spot treatment first I think.

I also used ArmorAll Carpet/Upholstery cleaner on my seats (and to pretreat the stains). Now I want to keep things easy to clean so I was thinking about buying some ScotchGuard and spraying my carpets/seats.

Anyone do this before?
 
This kind of product is a good idea to help cut down on cleaning of fabric as it will help eliminate most stains from 'setting'. I usually use 303 High Tech Fabric Guard.

ScotchGuard works just fine and will help repel future stains. DuPont also makes a Teflon type fabric spray...the name escapes me...but it serves the same purpose. As with any fabric spray, make sure to spot test a corner out of sight area first to make sure it works well with your carpets.

GO FOR IT i apply it when the interior is still a little damp from extracting . i dont know if it matters but thats what i do
 
You can buy a couple of cans from walmart or K mart and just follow the directions. You should wipe of any excess that gets on your plastics or vinyls to prevent spotting.
Try woolite and water mix 6:1 for those couple of tough stains that you have. i would use it on all the carpets but it's soo damn foamy. lol.
 
I would recommend applying DuPont or 3m scotch guard on new vehicles only.
Any types of soil grease, skin particles, coffee stain, lotion ... ETC trapped in the upholstery will not let this product fully cure and guarantee it durability or even proper functionality.
I have tried using Scotch guard before, after extracting with heated extractor, and the results were not very satisfactory.
At first the carpet should be completely dry, then apply two even coats of product 5-10 minutes between each coat and let it dry usually for 24 hours.
The product will best perform when used on sunny days; basically it needs to baked on.
I have had good results with newer vehicles. Example, water beads up and stays that way. Older vehicles (dirtier upholstery) water beads up 10 minutes, or less than its penetrates in upholstery like there was no protection. :boohoo
