Scored a Great Deal on a GG6

After some homework online, and threads in this forum, I was almost going to bite for a MT300, but a really awesome (unbeatable?!?) deal on a GG6 presented itself, and so I bought one. Advance Auto is selling the GG6 (10' power cord) for $149.99. BUT one of the current coupon codes gets $40 off any online purchase over $100... AND I also had a Speed Perks $5 off reward applied, bringing the final price down to $104.99 plus tax (shipping to home was free since the price was over $75)... AND because I bought the GG6, I got another Speed Perks reward for $20 off my next purchase of $40 or more!

An excellent value I think. Now it's time to learn proper technique! :)
 
Congrats!. Great machine and a great deal too. Unless you go pro it's really all the DA most ever need.
 
Congrats--you'll love it and it will do anything you ask of it with the proper pads and products. Don't forget to get a 5" backingn plate and plenty of 5 or 5.5" pads. Good luck!!
 
its the machine we use 90% of the time, with a 5 inch backing plate. unless you are doing heavier paint corrections, you can accomplish most things with a GG6 (GG5).
 
good for you, great deal ! you'll also find that the gg6 has ample power and works fine with the 6 1/2" pads. now get out there and get busy. :)

I didn't realize Autopia would match AAP's price- I would have thrown the sale their way as long as they would have priced matched the $104.99 plus future coupon. A bit late for that now. :(

I still need a 5" backing plate and pads. I'll see what I can find online and offer a price match if they sell the same stuff I need.
 
Someone mentioned a few months ago that Autopia wouldn't match price from an Auto Parts store??? Would be nice to know one way or the other going forward.

It says nothing about parts stores, whether brick and mortar or online (AAP technically operates a separate entity for their stores and their online presence, though both are linked- it's weird). Can anyone confirm Autopia would match AAP's prices? AAP sells a lot of Meguiar's and Griot's products on their shelves, and with their online coupons, anyone could order online to save $$$ and then head right to their local store 30 minutes later and pick up the order.

But I don't mind supporting Autopia if they do in fact price match AAP.
 
I prefer beating prices instead of just matching them, which we'll do 99.99% of the time. If you think you scored a great deal, you should've seen the deal you would've gotten if you pm'd me or gave us a call ;)

I don't remember ever seeing that post but it's not true. (Maybe it was on AGO?) We'll beat their prices.

If you take the $149.99 price of the GG6, and then factor in the $20 off my next $40 purchase, and my Speed Perks $5 reward I just used (in addition to the $40 off coupon code), That's $189.99 worth of stuff for $124.99 (ignoring taxes), or a reduction of $65 (about 35% off the total of the merchandise).

So you would have sold me (or any other member) a GG6 for less than $97.49 (35% off)? Or given me discounts on future purchases to equal that?

Ha! Knew Ray would come through. Probably just sold several polishers. ;)

Trying to factor in the $20 off the next purchase is silly at this point. That means you have to make purchase to use it. When you get to the next purchase then he'll match. You can't match dollars on future expectations, you have to spend the money. You said they sold you the polisher for $109, he would be looking at that price to beat. Don't mean to speak for you Ray. Bottom line is research your purchase, find your best deal and then give Ray a shot. Supporting Autopia just makes sense not to mention he'll back you up.

I don't find a 50% off coupon silly at all. As long as the purchase price of the stuff I'm buying anyway is around the $40 mark, I'll walk out of there with whatever I need at half off. I'll take that. :D

And AAP will let you cash out multiple times to maximize coupons as well. There is no limit as to how many you can use per visit.. just only one per ring-out. And the future expectations thing is the wrong way to think about it. I only got that coupon because I spent the money on the GG6 at AAP. How can he match something I never got (because I didn't buy from AAP, but somewhere else)? The only way to factor that in is to look at total merchandise for total discount. Any other way is skewed at best.
 
Not sure what you're not seeing. That 50% off is on your next purchase and is only assuming you're spending $40. You've got $20 coming to you. The man said he woud match it when you get there, makes sense to me to give him a shot. Autopia also has it's own rewards points program.

You made a good buy. I'm not trying to argue with you here. I think I understand what youj have coming. Shop your heart out, get your best price and then come to Autopia, your efforts would have still have benefitted you at Autopia.

I'm not trying to argue here either. :)

I only saw him post that he'd have given me a great deal- nothing on exactly what that would have been. Tough to compare "what could have been" to "what I actually got" unless he tips his hand as to how low he actually would have gone (and I guess I wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to publicly do that).

In any case, I will keep his price matching in mind- I still need a 5" backing plate and pads. :D
