ScheerSpeed Detailed: My Own 2008 BMW M3

Well, my lease was just about up on my old '06 325i, so i decided to upgrade. I was initially looking for a 335i, which they wanted quite a sum of money for a 36 month lease... so i decided to shop around, and found myself this M3 at a dealership in Ohio (Im in Florida) through autotrader.com. and then i talked to the dealer, back and fourth for a while, and ended up getting an AMAZING deal on the car.

Anyways, this car sat on the lot since early 2008, so you can imagine how many times the dealer washed it, and the acid rain etchings, and what not...

Now onto the wash and clay. i first soaked the car with P21s TAW and 1Z Anti-Insekt in order to dissolve the salt, and anything else that had settled onto the paint. then i washed the car with a high concentration of CG CWC.

Looks absolutely flawless my man. I'm jealous of the Flordia palm trees you can have in your pictures. Here in Va I can take reflections with cows and some tall grass. :) Great detail.

Looks unreal! How do you feel about the car mechanically? ie: having a car that has sit on the lot for a year, did you flush the oil etc... Just curious, I was in the market for a car like that and was unsure. Any problems?

Andrew

Dude, that thing is SICK! Congratulations and enjoy the heck out of it.

Now it looks like it should've been delivered to you but there's obvious satisfaction in doing it yourself knowing it's done right.

Car looks great! Maybe you wouldn't get 13mpg if you kept your foot out of the go pedal... lol:grinno:

The M3 has an accelerator for a reason, use it. :D

Great work on the car. Nice photos. All hail he M3.

:bow

I think I like the saloon better than the coupe, that's a beauty of a car man.

Nice work on the car, the colour is very nice!

Looks great! Did you see the comparison of the M3 vs. the Toyota Prius on Top Gear. Prius got like 18 mpg and the M3 got like 23. I like those tail lights. Do you have any other plans for it yet?

hey guys, thanks for all the comments.

the lease deal i got was crazy. 36 months / 10K miles. $0 due at signing for $690/month Tax inc.

the sticker price was 66,500

for the moment i am going to leave it stock. i think my first real mod will be an eisenmann exhaust.

sick.....

$0 due at signing.............if there is such a deal in nor cal, i would not think about getting one right now!

Your car looks great.

We picked one up, same year and color and under the same circumstances as the one you picked up, however, we got ours locally. I have been waiting for a proper detail on one so I have a comparison and can see exactly how good the Jerez Black can look after being corrected.

When the weather clears up here I can't wait to get started. Do you have any other tips?

Did you notice if the hood on your car is lower in the front then the tips of the fenders? I had to adjust mine and the hood was way lower then the fenders.

I can concur, so far in the break-in period we have driven the car nice and the best milage so far, 18 mpg :shocked

One person asked about the fluid change becasue the car sat for so long. We drove our car to about 600 miles. BMW says that at 1,200 they change all the fluids. When we brought the car in to the service department for a couple of things they said they would change the fluids when we wanted them changed as the service due for the 1,200 was flagged as needing to be done becasue of time. I wanted to get a few miles on the car and so that some of the break-in was done on the old fluids and wouldn't be in the new fluids that will be in the car for the next year or 12,000 miles which ever comes first.

One of the best things about BMW is that everything service wise is included. We have a Mercedes that teh lease is ending and one of the reasons we didn't do another Mercedes is the services are no longer included.

Sorry to go off topic a bit, Your car looks great and I can't wait to get mine in teh same shape, if we were closer I would just hire you to do it you did such a good job!

66k damn son! you must be doin something right! How old did you say you were?

Great cleanup! Did you pick it up from Bmw of Cincinnati off stewart road?

That things a v8 right? Expect 20mpg on a GOOD day. my 540i (4.4L) gets around 17 average (and i baby it).

That car looks great!!!!!! 100% correction no thanks to the stealership boobs, brand new car that needed that much work is a crime......

I am also jealous of the Miami weather and I am in California(northern is presently cold and rainy), great work and attention to detail.:2thumbs:
