Another mobile Detailing job. This car was bought at a auction, the previous owner passed away, and this car had been sitting in a garage for 2 years! the previous owner was a smoker, so i also had to get that smell out! that wasn't easy without a Ozone machine...

but after doing a panel with that combination i wasn't happy with the results, so i decided to step it up a notch to a Orange CCS pad. man this Z06 clear is HARD!

i spent 16 hours on this car!!!

Nice job that color looks great on the corvette. And only 6,000 miles that thing has been sitting for a long time.

great work. i always had trouble on polishing the hood on the corvette, because it doesn't have a flat surface on it. it seems like the solution is to use smaller pads like you did.

Did the paint require more then one pass of SIP? IME, it can take 3 to 4 passes with a compound and wool to remove defects on the hard Corvette paint, before refining the compound marks with SIP.

Car looks great Scheer, I am just suprised it cleaned up that easily!

Whoa, what are you using for interior dressing? That stuff looks way too shiny.

The rest of the car looks great, though. You might consider changing to some interior dressing with more of a matte finish.

Todd,

In a case like you mentioned (where you are doing 3-4 passes on such hard paint) would it make sense to use an extremely fine wet sand paper (3000 or higher) on a DA so you 1) don't have to do so many passes and 2) you are "chasing" the defects as your research has shown?

Nice job!

I was working on a '02 C5 for the past couple of days. By far the hardest clear I've attempted to correct. It made the other GM paint I've done seem like hot butter. A couple applications of black Edge wool/M105 @ 1800RPM removed ~40% of the defects, and the paint wasn't in that bad of condition. However, the owner wasn't concerned enough about them for me to put in several more hours into the car, so the whole thing got green/106FF, which didn't do a whole lot.

thanks! it took 2 passes with SIP on the orange pad @ 1500 RPM. remember, this car only had 6000 miles and was sitting in a garage for 2 years... the paint wasn't in too bad of shape. but i understand what you mean... that clear is HARD!

He said in his original post that he used 303. Applied a little heavy maybe?

i think it's just the lighting in that picture... since it was dark outside and i had my halogens on the other side of the car. it really didnt look so shiny in person...
