Satan's Passat + coming soon...

Last week Satan himself  showed up at my house, disguised as a close friend of mine. He apologized in advance for the burden he was to put on me with his sin-mobile, but he's known to exaggerate things a bit when it comes to the condition of the cars he gives me, though this time... he wasn't joking. This car was a taxi, but for some reason it was out of work and sat under a gang of trees for more than 1 year... need I say more? Here's the pics:

He was kind enough to take it through the automatic car wash before he delivered it to me :). Some almost fossilized leaves...

Soaking in a heavy mix of Super Foam and APC

My beer slave earning his pints... yes, I slapped him (on his fresh tattoo :)) for resting the hose on the car. We decided to use running water only during the claying process, as it gives a much better bite. Claying time was about 5 hours...

passat_22.jpg

Some of the sap had to be removed with 2500 grit sandpaper

passat_23.jpg

The sap that was in the boot had to be removed by plucking off the head of the bead of sap, then with clay...

Some Anal-B oral thread to remove the numbering that was on the car...

I did a 2-stage polish on this automatic car wash queen using InstaFinish #15 and a cutting pad then with InstaFinish #15 and a polishing pad. Came out quite nice, but not completely scratch-free because my friend knows how much it would cost to make it scratch-free :D.

COMING SOON...

I was at the dealership today preparing a used Quattroporte (will post soon) to be delivered when a man walked in the garage and asked for one of the mechanics. I immediately knew who he was because I've seen him at tons of car shows and in magazines. He left his car with us to be repaired (something with the back glass, it was a quick fix) and then came back up with the owner of the dealership. The owner of the dealership was very cool and introduced me as the "perfectionist detailer" and of course the guy had a couple of questions for me about this and that. His car's going to a show soon and "you know who" will be detailing it for him... he's got like 20 other exotics as well... Here's the "coming soon":

Oh and I forgot to mention that the Passat had a twin that sat next to it for a year... I did that one too.

Thanks for reading and for all the Palyboy subscribers, thanks for "reading"!

Thanks Barry, much appreciated! Well for the rubbing alcohol, you can't get it in this stupid country without a prescription... dunno why. I tried some sap remover in the beginning, but that stuff wasn't budging... don't forget it was under a tree and in the blazing sun for a looooong time.

Satan's sin-mobile. Now THAT's funny right there!

BTW, very nice work!

Thanks buddy!

How long did the passat take to get back in shape? With that much work I would think a few days minimum.

Thanks Jake! Uh, I'm not sure about total hours, but the sap removal alone was more than 5 hours.... The polishing didn't take long as it wasn't really a "correction" polishing, only a 2-stage "whatever come out comes out, whatever doesn't, stays" polishing. If I had to estimate I'd say about 20 hours total.

Now that was just nasty!!

What was your method to cleaning the headliner in the car? My MK4 has some water stains from the sunroof from the prior owner.

Amazing attention to detail! Great job!

Will this car be sold to someone, or go back to being a taxi?

Nice recovery on the sin wagon.

That Spyker is pure lust, very nice paint job on it. Do all spykers have those rivets on them?

Josh

Thanks Josh! The picture does it no justice at all... the pearl white paint is just insanely beautiful. I'm not sure if they all do, it's the only one I've seen in the flesh. This one, as well as the others, have the whole aeronautical theme going on and we checked just to make sure and the rivets are real :) Here's some more pics:

Thanks mate! You can't get them too wet, as they'll sag afterward especially if they're a bit older. VW headliners are a bit sturdier FME than the rest of the felt headliners. I basically sprayed an even pattern of APC and then wiped it down back and forth then side to side. Reason for the different cleaning patterns is that it's very important that the area you're cleaning is evenly saturated with APC otherwise you'll get little patches of dirt that will appear in some places. For ones this dirty I usually have to do them 2 times and sometimes more, but I let them completely dry before each cleaning. About 3-4 hours on a hot day. Hope that helps!
