Well, here I am 6 months after purchasing my dream car in black. I was warned, but I didn't listen. The car is beautiful but problems with the paint are driving me crazy.
The car was delivered in horrible condition, and the dealership paid for a professional detailing ... but it still sucked. The major problem was haze swirls in the wax - like they put too much on and couldn't get it off. You can only tell in bright sunlight - but it looks like junk!!!
To further my pain, this raunchy bird laid some toxic poo on the hood ... and my hack detailing skills of polishing compound didn't work, now I just have swirl marks in the paint on top of the toxic poo stain. Arrrrggggg ... Mind you, the car has 3000 miles on it and I am totally discusted with the paint.
I'm have a bad case of OCD already, but when you couple that with not having a clue how to detail a car you just end up with a bigger mess than you started with. Luckily a friend saw my frustration and directed me to this wonderful site, where I am going to allow my OCD to take over so I can get my car to better than new condition.
First, I will start with the fact that I just ordered some Scratch X to address the toxic poo issue (thanks to reading other toxic poo stories). Yes, I know I could have picked it up at the store, but I needed some P21S wheel cleaner too, so I just ordered it.
Secondly, before I start using Scratch X to start digging into my clearcoat on the car I want to make sure that I know how to use this stuff and protect against it after I am done. I expect that I will be doing the entire hood, since I need to remove the haze swirl marks anyway (did I mention how tacky it looks?). Any advice on a process to follow would be great.
Finally, I have known that I needed a PC for quite some time, and I almost ordered one. Then I realize that there are kits - a whole plethora of kits that don't mean much to me at this time. In leiu of waiting for to knowledge level to catch up with my checkbook - I would like to purchase something now in order to have it available for when I start learning. What kit would ya'll recommend for my black bimmer?
This kit? http://autopia-carcare.com/son-daspol-kit.html
Thanks in advance ... here's a picture of my baby (unfortunately, no pictures of the haze swirls, but owners of black cars should know what I am talking about):
