I have a black 5 sieres bmw that i have to go back to sort out it has small sap deposits on roof bonett and hood.
I would like to avoid polishing this off im concerned that it could scratch the hell out of this car even with pc or cyclo??.
Would the apc do the trick ? I would like to avoid overkill on this job not worried about polishing after its removed .
Let me know what you think.

I've found Methyl Hydrate to be the only reliable thing. Anything abrasive will leave the area beside it rough, and underneath it shiny. Methyl Hydrate is cheap, paint safe, and evaporates quickly.

Mineral Sprits will do the same but I really don't think that you are going to find much that will take off the sap off and not take off the wax that's on there....at least not that I know of

WOW! You guys must have some tough tree sap where you live!!!

My car is "speckled" with tree sap occaisionally.

I simply use my QD spray and a MF towel to wipe off the sap. It works great. I do, however, use more QD for tree sap than I would for a normal wipe-down.

(My two fav QD's are Z6 and WAUD cut 50/50 with water)

I don't see allot of tree sap but some of the cars that I have done that have pine tree sap can be real hard to get off.....especially when someone leaves it on for a while its like varnish on the car in some cases

Around here I see sap very often. Only thing I've ever used with great success was rubbing alcohol. On occasion I'll run into sap that is resistant to it Usually it's stuff thats baked on for months. Wetting it with a few drops of alchol and letting it soaks helps. A plastic razor blade used with care also helps. If vehicle is waxed, I'll reapply to area. I've never tried Methyl Hydrate or wd40 but I will be trying them soon as would like an alternative when the alcohol doesn't work right away :)

Also I've found putting the alcohol on the mf seems to remove the sap better than putting it on the car. Not sure if it's my imagination though.

Thanks again for all the input guys ,some one mentioned the pb p polish earlier would using that polish with the pc scratch do you think ?.
the saps been there I would say 3 weeks .
The deposits are small but there big areas Its not light ,as sometimes sap washes straight off not in this case .
Thanks.
Jay :)
