Sanding/polishing stock exhaust pipe

I saw this somewhere on the net a while back and for the life of me I cant find it now.



It showed how and what materials needed to sand then polish the stock exhaust pipe. When they got done it was nice and shiny, not quite like a chrome tip but nice.



Was wanting to do this to the truck I ride at work.

I'd also be interested in doing this. I don't wanna buy any tipe of chrome tip or anything for my truck. Too much money.



I've been thinking about doing high temp silver paint but being right behind the wheels it would chip a lot. Being able to sand and polish it would be great!



Maybe getting one of those sanding wheels from home depot and hooking it up to my rotary. I can then get some of the different grades of the metal compounds to polish it up. I might run over there tonight or tomorrow to see what they have for this.



I'm sure for sanding you would just use a sequence of paper. 600, then 1000, then 1500, then 2000, then polishing.
 
I wish I could remember where I saw it. It showed pictures of before, during and after. It was awesome...looked like a polished stainless tip. If I remember right he started with 1000 grit...but I dont remember.

Intel, let us know about the sanding discs you'll use for the task... I have a Makita 9227, might as well try the sanding part... :)
