sand paper feeling paint! :(

i have a 2003 black on black boxter that needs help. it has not been babied and the paint is in bad condition. when i run my hand across the paint i feel a sandy rough surface. i was wondering how i can remove this sand paper feeling.

Give it a good wash, and then use the clay bar technique. Will make it feel as good as new, you would still have a lot of swirls/scratches though.
 
It will need a clay bar and a paint cleaner. Don't mean to sound too harsh, but next time you have a question about something as basic as a gritty finish, it might be a wise idea to use the search function or read David B.'s guide to detailing.
 
I had the same with mine when I bought it - even the damn windshield had a gritty feel when I got it home.



As above though, a good session with the clay-bar, and a large dose of patience will cure the sandpaper feel. :)
