Salt Sprine Spray

I'd Buff It
This stuff drives me crazy, perfectly dry clear roads turned into a white dust bowl. I guess road crews in the NorthEast this year have nothing to do and a budget to blow. Save it for paving I say. :surrender

I think it should be outlawed.

I had to go look this word up (sprine) and I still don't know what it is. I've heard of brine but don't know about sprine. Are you just talking about road salt.

It's snowing here:mad: my vehicles will have this white salt sprine stuff on them tomorrow:surrender

We fight that too in Nebraska. It's cold and the roads still have ice and such on them. I've been wondering about a pre-soak to use before washing my vehicles at the DIY commercial wash. Any suggestions? I have some Poorboys Spray and Wipe that I typically use after I've hit the car wash, but I've always worried that I might scratch the paint... those car washes don't really work that well unless you can use a bucket. When the the temp is 20 or lower I usually don't mess with trying to use a bucket.

Poorboy's Bug Squash is EXCELLENT as a pre-wash. It really does a fantastic job eating up road salt.

At what rate do you dilute it at ?

If the salt and sand is light, I'd go 2:1 OR 1:1 , if it's heavy straight up.

i also put a few ounces into my windshield washer fluid to give it extra kick, especially if you do winter highway driving :)

I've never thought about doing that, but it sounds like a great idea! I know I'll be adding some this summer to see how it works.

Yes salt brine the water salt mixture that gets sprayed on the roads. This supposedly pre treats the road the day before the forecast calls for any frozen precip.

It turns what would have been a nice dry road into a white dust bowl. It seems they put this on then nothing frozen happens anyway, or it just rains and washes it away.

So would adding some PB Bug Squash and QEW in a sprayer work well as a presoak? Currently I've been using QEW with a bit of S&W thrown in, but I'm looking for something better to combat all the salt that gets on my car.

Also, would using the same mix work well for just spraying the car and letting it air dry/dry while driving? I know in the past if I didn't have time for a real wash I'd spray the car down with a QEW mix, then let it sit and dry that way. Sure it would water spot a bit, but it was better than leaving the car salt-white imo.

Lastly, would Bug Squash strip any LSP off the car? I have 2 coats of WG on it right now, and need that to last as long as possible.

Thanks in advance.
