Salt on car, and no water to wash it off

My car is COVERED in salt and road grime. Unfortunately down here at school I have no water source, so I'm limited to machine washes. Which method is the lesser of the evils? (soft cloth, touchfree, etc.)
 
Touchfree. Then maybe if you have some soft MF's and good QD or waterless wash give it a careful and gentle wipedown.



If you do go the CoinOp route, please dont massage the paint with that brush they offer.
 
Hey Matt. If you can find a coin-op place to use, take it there and just use the pressure washer to get off all the salt, grime, etc. Just use it as a pre wash sort of thing. Then remember the ONR (Optimum No Rinse) I was telling you about. After doing the pressure washer, take the care back to school with you and you can do an ONR wash right outside and it will look awesome again.
 
You can also use a 12 dollar 2 gallon lawn and garden sprayer to prewash the grime off. You can get them at lowes. Then you would not need the coin op.
 
Alright I just ordered a bottle of ONR and one of their MF towels...I'll use that after pressure washing off the grime.

Sink, Shower? I hope :). You can spray off your car with only water at the coin op, and drive it home and use a bucket of water you poured from your sink or shower for the ONR.

That brush at the coin op is a waste. I don't even use it on my tires because I am afraid that it might get punctured. :soscared:

Brushes are not something I want touching any part of my car.
 
Spray it off at the coin-op, drive it home and do an ONR there. You can surely get water SOMEWHERE, even if you have to buy a few gallons of drinking water at the grocery store...
 
What if you get a 5 gallon bucket with a lid, and just fill it with about 2 gallons of water while you are at the spray off car wash (along with your ONR)? Then you can put the lid on, drive back home, and take the lid off and wash.

The bad news: there is nowhere around here that is a coin-op...the one that was in town is being converted to a touchfree place.



The good news: because of the protective products applied to my car when I had it detailed in November, the salt doesn't really stick to the paint. So when it rained yesterday it rinsed off enough salt and grime that I won't need to spray it off before using ONR on it.
 
The touchless is the way to go . The In bay wash is good too. But you have to do that yourself. I do not use any of the brushes in the bay washes. They will scratch the mess out of your finish. One time is all it takes. Then you will need a buffer, and products,and skills, to remove the marring,and swirls. I have carried a 5 gallon bucket of water and done a vehicle , and thats before I was introduced to ONR.

I'll take that compliment seeing I'm the one that detailed the car. :) Awesome man..



I'll be back down in a few months, can't wait to shine her up again
