Other car

I was only doing 2.5mph. The silver car hit with such force it spun me 180 and moved me over 70ft with out the front touching or marking the pavement. My truck is over 4600 lbs. This is a 35mph zone. My leg broke the whole steering column off the firewall and is flopping.

Unfortunately the other driver was taken to the hospital. He was able to walk from his car but had neck and shoulder pain. I'm still trying to find out how he is doing. I hope it's all minor because I'm hurting and a good 15 years younger.

Just a reminder when the coast is clear and everyone is stopping for a stale yellow not everyone will. I had been waiting the yellow out. I don't know how fast he was going. A person who saw it couldn't believe how far it sent me.
Just food for thought....
I was sited because I was turning, the impact happened as the light turned red. But that's the law.

In the end.. Our final goodbye. Engine is in firewall, transmission is broke open, front is shifted and frame 18".

sorry to hear that john. do take care of yourself because a lot of injuries may not become obvious for a month or so. looks like the crumple zones in your ride did what they were supposed to do to absorb that severe impact.

Sorry to hear/see this John and I'm glad to see you didn't suffer major injuries. This is how accidents happen, they come at you right out of the blue and when you least expect it. Being in your Land Rover probably protected you to a certain degree...

Give yourself a day or two make doubly sure an injury or two don't crop up.

Glad you're OK.....:bigups

If you are over the center line you are liable. Lost a good young family freind as she was turning into her grandmothers driveway, the other guy was drunk or had been drinking and weas doing 70 on gravel over a hill and he got nothing. Wasnt the first time or the last around here. At least 3 other times with another young freind, my wife going to pick up the kids at school, and my dad getting hit by a deer hunters pickup that was doing 70 plus on gravel in front of a farmstead. JUST STAY ON YOUR SIDE OF THE ROAD TILL ITS ALL CLEAR!!!!

Take care of yourself John. Injuries from things like this can pop up later. The accident looks pretty bad from the pictures

I was in an accident when I was waiting to make a left turn. I was rearended and the girl was doing 60 in a 35 or 40. She didn't hit the brakes until she was right on top of me. Threw my car across the intersection. I thought I was okay but I had a concussion. Neck and back hurt for a week after.

Oh man!!! Im shocked......Sorry for such a moment.
Wish you the best recovery possible....
Impressive.....

Thanks for the concern everyone.
I went out today to take a fresh look.
It surprised me when I opened the hood.

The alternator and edge of the motor should be where the orange jack is.

The jack compartment should be behind the battery. Both of those should be 12in to the left.

Both motor mounts are severed and the engine is resting above the left wheel well. Back left side is piercing the firewall.

I was very surprised being a full frame vehicle. It's a shame I would have loved to pull the cab and start over on a new frame.
