how do i fix sagging door syndrome? My drivers side door is sagging to the point of me having to lift it up about .25" for the pieces to engage into the lock mechanism.

help please!!!

go to autozone and look in the "help" section. you can find hinge kits with bushings. just cut out the old hinge rods and replace and that will fix it

I wouldnt just shim it because it is only gonna get worse and you would have to add more shims after awhile. those hinge kits only cost like $5.00 or about there and are easy to install

not hard at all. just cut the hinge rod or the rivet on top. then install the bushings and new hinge just drops in with a cotter key on the bottom or sometimes a rivet

hummm

i just went and looked, and well i didn't see and rivets or cotter pins on my doors. it is all held together by bolts.

You should really look into replacing the hinge pins like elortt mentioned, that is the only real way to fix the sagging problem short of replacing the whole hinge.

Like others have said, change the hinge bushings and pins. My old '78 Camaro suffered from the sagging door syndrome, and the bushings fixed it right. Seems like GM's with long doors suffer from this over time.

I agree, replacing the hinge is the best...and permanent solution. Adding shims will lift the door but it will also throw off the door panel gaps and it will look bad. It will put more stress on the latching mechanism.

I am 100% sure new (or even used, but in better shape) hinges are still available for your car. It's not a difficult fix. :xyxthumbs
