Safe Wheel Cleaner for bare aluminum question

I have aluminum wheels and have stripped the clear coat, lightly polished (to keep machined lines), and applied several coats of Klasse.



Is there a wheel cleaner efficient in removeing brake dust that will not remove or attack the Klasse efforts please>



I have called the manufacturer of several brands and they state that their cleaners will remove the Klasse. I have also called the Tech Support of "Dupont Teflon Wheel Cleaner" who can not give me a solid answer.....their bottle claims gentleness, no harsh chemicals, etc, and so on .....



Any comments will be appreciated and thanks,

Im fairly certain that any wheel cleaner will remove protection from wheels....a general rule i think would be to give them one really great cleaning front and back...apply a wheel wax or sealant to them and like mentioned above wash them with your car wash solution at the end of your wash/separate bucket type thing. This will ensure that the protection is still in tact and it will actually make cleaning in the future easier. Wheel cleaners are generally more caustic than APC..and i know APCs will strip wax if they get on paint wheels etc. I think this is your best bet

I will stay / stick with the gentle car wash with carnuba that I have been using.

It it just the spokes are hard to navigate ( I am hign percentage disabled vet and bending down is not the most desirable thing to do :) ) and a spray bottle sure would be a nice alternative :).

I just called McGuires about the Hot Rims product....this product replaced a another new product that they had marketed....this is the same product, just blue instead of orange....the other name was to confusing. I saw some of the orange bottled product in Big Lots last night (Big Lots bought a bunch of it at discontinued price) and it was only 3.00. Same product 1/2 price. The contact person told me that all wheel cleaners are caustic enough to remove waxes.
 
These wheels are polished aluminum, non-clear-coated. Polished aluminum oxidizes. My opinion is that any harsh chemical, such as spray-on wheel cleaners, will advance the oxidation process.



I use "Simichrome" polish monthly, and Z6 detail spray every time I drive it.

P21S is all you need.



Sure you can use mild car wash as well. You may just have to try one that works best for you.
