Sad story... need a pro detailer

Hey gang,

Sad story here, maybe you can help. I got married recently and my cousins decided to shoe polish the windows of my 2003 Saab 93. It was raining at the time, so it ran down everywhere and dried. Now I've read the shoe polish is safe, but we had a hell of a time scrubbing it off the windows. And when we did, it just turned into little flakes that washed down and sealed themselves to the paint. The entire car is now speckled white (it's bright red) and the specs are difficult to remove with a finger nail, not to mention impossible with sponge and soap.

I tried using Mother's Clay Bar to remove the specs. It made the paint feel very smooth, but didn't touch the specs of shoe polish. So I figure the only option is buffing it out. However, I am in no way an experienced detailer and don't have the proper equipment or skills.

So I'm looking for recommendations of a pro-detailer in the Cleveland, OH area. Or at the very least, some intelligent questions I should ask a detailer before I let them attempt to fix the paint job. Does anyone know how to get rid of this stuff, or know where I can go for help?

Thanks,

Greg

I think I heard that vinegar works well on concrete specks(?). Maybe it'll work on your problem. I think you soak a piece of paper towel with vinegar and then lay it on and let it penetrate for a few minutes. It might help. Do a search on vinegar and see what pops up. Maybe some of the pros will chime in and help ya out.

Don't forget to repay your cousins for this not-so-funny stunt;)

You don't want to touch your paint with paper towels. Use cotton towels and try vinegar or alcohol.

I know the feeling. My sister got married last week and someone put Silly String all over the car. Didn't bother to read on the can to avoid direct sunlight. Left "burn marks" all over the clear coat and melted some of the rubber and plastic trim! Had to take her car home and detail it for her before they left on their honeymoon. Needless to say, the best man is paying for some new trim!

oook i dont know if you have fixed your problem already but you could try mineral spirits and a soft rag. dab the rag in mineral spirts and wipe over the specks....give it like 20 seconds and then start rubbing away...i had to do this on my white truck cause i ran through some tar which sprayed down the side of my beautiful white truck...boy was i pissed.....if that works..hopefully it will be sure to wash the area a couple times and hose it off good...then throw on a couple coats of wax...should be good to go.

I gooped a bunch of shoe polish on my 70 El Camino and let it dry for most of the day today. Took some Mothers Cleaner Wax (It came in your clay bar kit) and with a little massaging with light pressure it came right off. I noticed a small amount of stain left behind and reapplied with a little more pressure, maybe 15 seconds, and the stain came right out. Give it a try and let me know what happens
