Hi everyone :wavey

I am been reading many posts on here and due to this shared knowledge got hooked on detailing cars. I love it. I find great joy spending time cleaning my car and trying new combos. So to cut a long story short I have a few pics of what my detail included.

To start with: I bought this car on 1 July this year. I used to have the same car in Black until last year. although it looked awesome when clean I got tired of keeping it looking great. Nature took its course and I ended having an accident in that one and went for the same car but in Ascari Red instead.

I picked up the car from the dealers and had instructed them not to touch it. When I got it home I washed & clayed using NXT wash and Megs clay. I then applied #81 to the car, after this NXT which was then topped with P21S and a week later with #16.

I was pleased with my end results. It looked wonderful but I wanted to try other products too. I needed something a bit wetter and deeper. RichPug from this forum very kindly posted me some VM however the Royal Mail managed to break the bottle and it leaked out. :angry I had also heard good thing about AIO and SG but wanted to try VM with EX-P topped up. Another very good guy, Alex, who sells all these products here in the UK also obliged and sent me some samples. I am grateful to him for all his help.

I started by applying GEPC, since I didn't have any VM. The results were pretty good. I then applied #81 to half the hood but could not see any difference between the two. I then noticed that I had a few swirls. Since I was doing a long detail I decided it best to remove them. I got out my DA and used #80 to half the hood.

I couldn't believe the results. The half with the #80 on it not only removed the swirls but the depth of color and wetness was amazing. Perhaps I did something wrong with GEPC but comparing them side by side, the GEPC side had a bit of a haze to it while the #80 was clear, deep and red. I forgot to take a pic of side by side but here are some of #80 applied to the whole car.

I then applied EX-P to the car. I found it easy to apply and love the smell. I did however have a few areas which I couldn't buff clean. I will discuss below.

#80 and EX-P:

Like I said, I had a few spots of EX-P which were next to impossible to shift. I tried Meg QD but that didn't do anything. So I tried the Zaino QD. This not only removed those spots but also gave it a richer shine.

A big thanks to all whose post made this happen and also to Paksak for their towels. I am going to buy some VM and try that next but after spending all of 6 hours today it will be some time before I try that. I am also getting some EX-P and after having applied 3x coats I'll top it with either P21S or #16 which I own already or might try Natty wax instead. This last product is one which I have used yet so your feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading and I hope it is a well deserved place on Autopia. :xyxthumbs

Very impressive Rahula. I am forwarding this to a colleague of mine who has a beautiful S2000K in black. He's been using my S100 to was the car for a deep reflective look. He will be impressed with the Ascari Red...

I've done 3 tests at different times. I did the tests on 2 different cars. The first car was dark metallic green, the second was a blue Subaru Impreza. In all cases the whole car was DACP'd first, then:

1) Half the hood with #9, half the hood with FP II.

FP II won hands down.

2) Half the hood with #80, half the hood with FP II.

FP II won hands down.

3) Whole drivers side with #80, half of door done with #9.

#9 won hands down.

The results were the same for both car colors.

#80 has been touted greatly on this forum, and I think it is a good product, however, I've found it should be followed by something else such as #9 or FP II because #80 clearly left a slight haze. You won't notice the haze until you use a finer polish beside it and then it is clearly visible...especially on dark paints.

Wish I had taken pictures :(

First off, thanks everyone for the :up. It feels great for the work to appreciated when I spent so much time on this. I can say I am very pleased with the results.

YouGottaBeLeaf: I am not sure what FP II is but one thing I can say is this; I didn't have any hazing at all after #80. If I had you can bet I would have used something milder. I have both #82 and #9 at home. Trust me, I really didn't need anything at all.

I also have some #81 at home but I am no longer a fan of this product. I never seem to be able to remove it properly and the results in my opinion are not worth it. I was really hoping to try VM because I have been told many times that it is a fantastic glaze with a lot of depth and wetness. I wonder if it would have added anything more to the car. I really would like to try some of that.

I also have some DACP and I have cutting, polishing and finishing pads. The reason why I had applied #80 to half the hood was to see if it removed the swirl or if I had to apply DACP. In the end I didn't need to which was great.

Also, does anyone know if I did something wrong with GEPC? I applied it with a polishing pad and worked till almost dry and removed. Like I mentioned above, I applied it but after applying #80 to half the hood the results were far better on this half. Not because the swirls were gone but because it had depth and richness to the color which the GEPC just didn't. The difference was marked and could be easily seen by anyone, not just the picky amongst us.

Any thoughts about VM in future? Also would it improve the look if applied over #80? Finally after applying #80 I had red/pinkish color on my pad. I am very puzzled by this because the car has CC. Any ideas about this?

Beautifully done! I love using # 80 as well. It gets the job done without having to step down afterwards. BUT, as great as it is, VM will add even more gloss and wetness. On my black car, I was :shocked at the difference because I was thinking not much more can be added to the finish. Just a quick pass over the WHOLE car with you DA and an easy buff-off and you'll be set. No need to work in small sections as you're just glazing at this point.

Yes, #80 SEEMS to be great until you use something less abrasive on it...then the finish becomes even better! Try it next time you're doing your car....do half a panel with #80, then the other half with #9 and see if you can spot the difference. I bet you do.

FP II = Menzerna Final Polish II. I've never used VM but I imagine it is similar to #9 and FP II. Can't really go wrong with any of the 3.

Did you hit any plastic parts such as the side mirrors? Sometimes there is less clearcoat on the colorized plastic and it be easy to go through it.

Thanks for the input. I will give it a try next time. I have used #9 and #82 in the past and I always had to use a glaze afterwards. With #80 I seemed to have no need. Like I said, I will try it next time on a section to see the differences.

I did go over the mirrors and bumpers but the colour actually came on the pad when I was doing the hood and other metal parts. It did seem very strange and I can't explain it. In fact when I did the platic parts the color almost dissapeared from the pad.

Beautiful car! Honda really knocked one out of the park with the S2000 and your detail made a great car even better!

I've never *had* to follow #80 with anything but I have used VM to add more wetness before waxing or sealing. Even with a Meguiars burgandy cutting pad on a black Mercedes S500 I had no hazing problems (followed with NXT and a polishing pad). I've found #80 works best when you crank the PC up to 6 and do two moderate speed passes then one real slow pass and #80 will pretty much clear.

Here is your money shot right here:

That is an absolutely insane detail! One of the best looking cars & detail jobs I have ever seen on this board.

That is some statement conitering you dident see any before shots. I agree though, that shot of the car would be the best one for selling it/showing off.

Thank you all so much! :) I can not belive reading the posts how highly you rate my work. I am speechless and humbled. I have only taken on detailing about 2 months ago and have done two others jobs. The first one was on a city car we have, which was really a practice run, the second was the pics you saw on the top and now this.

I too am very happy how it turned out and once again thank you for all the compliments. It means a lot to me. One other thing I can cofirm is that I am hooked on making my car look great. I still love driving the car more but making it look as good as this is a pleasure. It does of course help that it is a beautiful car to start with, makes my life a bit easier.:o

I will wait to get some VM and try it again. The only problem is that the next 4 weekends are booked out so I have no time at all for a day I need. I will however keep you all posted with the new detail. Finally and like I said in my first post, all this would have been next to impossible had it not been the inpout of people like you on this forum. It has helped me understand methods, products, procedure etc. The list goes on so a big thanks to everyone who had helped make this happen. :xyxthumbs
