S100 vs. #26 for solid red?

Doing a full exterior job on a 94 red Z28 this weekend. I will finish with AIO topped w/ either S100 or #26. What do you all recommend? Any pics?

I would use 26. Has nice darkening effect.

Hmm. Yeah I liked #26 on my black trans am and a navy Liberty we did. But then again I thought S100 looked amazing in person on a white BMW we did. I have yet to try S100 on anything but that one white car.

EDIT: also.. I have #26 liquid... is the paste any better? I know I've heard the Souveran paste > Souv. liquid. I wanted the #26 paste, but the liquid was quicker to find.

S is probably gonna give you a brighter shine, #26 is a bit darker/wetter. I'm not sold on 26 though, I've got a tin of it and I've maybe used it twice. The S100 is going to be significantly more eye-catching, I'd use it unless you're looking to avoid tickets :).

Edit: I just saw your post that you're using liquid 26. In that case I'd *definetly* go with S100. I just find 26 to be a little bit dead, on a well prepped surface either of them will look great but the S100 is going to give you just a little bit more "wow". Plus, it's easier to use. Knowing the shade of Camaro Red, I'd go for gloss over darkness anyways.

Well I'm not experienced enough to know the difference between wet, deep, shiney. All I know is... swirled vs swirl-free, looks right vs. doesn't look right.

As far as avoiding tickets... not my fault if I guy in red Z28 gets a ticket... can't be the first time it's happened :2thumbs: . Maybe he'll have to drive careful.

Any more opinions?

EDIT: Just saw that you just saw my edit. Haha. What is the diff between liq and solid #26?

Another question also.. I'm gettin some pre-VOC 845 from a member on here. If it is here in time... would you still use #26 or S100, or use the 845?

I agree that #26 will give a nice, deep, wet and dark appearance and S100 will be more shiny. I prefer to save S100 for lighter colors and metallics. I use 26 (liquid) on my black motorcycle and on my old red Dodge Ram and I absolutely love it. It wipes off very easy for me, I have never had any problems with it at all.

If you can't get your hands on some Souveran, I'd say #26 over S100 on that color for sure, but you really can't go wrong with either and chances are, most people won't even notice the difference.

You guys are making this tough! Lol. Still.. what varies between #26 paste and liquid?

Never used the paste, but it may be more durable than the liquid. You can easily apply #26 in liquid form via PC with a finishing pad at speed 3. I always just do it by hand, though.

AH! Almost forgot to mention... I will be using RMG for the first time also this weekend... first on black acura on saturday, then on the red Z on sunday!

Does that affect your opinions? What should I expect out of the RMG? I plan to apply it around speed 4 on a 4" grey finishing pad... sound right?

I would use either the #26 or the #845 if you get it

It will last much longer than the s100 and have awesome beading

any of them will work fine over rmg

#26 for sure, not only does it look better (obviously opinions vary), but it will be *much* more durable than s100. I don't find s100 to be anything special myself.

Cool cool. I'll prolly rub in some RMG on a 4" grey pad, then follow up w/ #26 liquid. Should the RMG go over AIO or replace it entirely?

I use my P21S on my personal vehicles and #26 on my customers and family's cars.

This weekend im doing a 99 mazda miata emerald mica and cant decide between the 2 however.

I'd use S100 if there's RMG underneath - since the RMG already does a good job of darkening, the S100 will shine beautifully. As others have mentioned though, it's not very durable.

You will be surprised at how close the Collinite #845 looks compared to S100 (which, as well as its sibling P21S are overrated in my opinion) Sure, S100 smells nicer than #845 IW, but application and removal is very similar, as is the look. What is not similar is the durability, and the 845 will mop the floor twice with the S100.

For #26, it is one of the most darkening waxes available, but not very reflective. I also have used my tin like 3 or 4 times, as I find it extremely hard to use. It doesn't spread well at all (moist applicator is the only way) and removal is harder than Collinite 476S.

So, of the 3, I say Collinite 845 without too much fight.

Alex

26 liquid has nice darkening ability and is easy to work with. 845 is more reflective and more durable. your call. From my experience S100 is overrated and is no better looking than 845. I gave my S100 away.
