S100 doesn't feel as smooth or slick as Meguiar's Gold Class carnauba paste wax

I'm not sure why, but I have used both Meguiar's Gold Class paste wax, the one that comes in a little tin can, and S100 paste wax, and it seems like the GC wax is smoother and slicker. What I mean by that is that after I buff the wax off after it has almost hazed or hazed completely (S100 says to buff off before it hazes, though I've tried both approaches), the surface is really smooth and slick. For example, if I toss my microfiber cloth across the hood, it would slide right on through and land onto the floor.

When I used S100, it wouldn't feel as smooth and slick, and when I felt the surface with my hand, it was smooth as far as how the paint feels after you claybar it and all, but it feels like there is resistance. When I would do that same thing about throwing my microfiber towel across the hood, it would slide for a little bit then stop dead in its track.

I thought that S100 was supposed to be a superior wax, but it doesn't feel like it is. Of course the S100 looks good, but I feel more familiar with waxes that give that smooth and slick finish where everything slides off it with ease. Like putting my bottle of QD on the top of the car after I waxed it with GC compared to S100, the bottle wouldn't stay in one place and would just effortlessly slide off the top. With the S100 however, it just sits still.

What's the dealio? I like how S100 is easier to apply and remove compared to GC though and isn't as messy, but maybe that is because I'm just using too much GC. GC smells a little better than S100 too, but they both smell waxy and not fruity or pleasant, so can't really say anything there. Anyone else notice this? I would go back to using GC, but like I said, it's harder to work with, and it stains way more than S100 on non-paint surfaces.

The s100 is gentler and much longer lasting. Try leaving the car alone for a week, washing the car and doing the slickness test again. Also the gold class has lots of oils in it which makes it seem slicker.

Try this:

Allow S100 to haze slightly before removing...don't apply and remove immediately as suggested. Maybe 30-60secs.

Remove using a soft cotton terry towel...not MF.

Do 2 coats this way.

This produced one of the slickest, bug-resistant finishes I've tried. Two months and still beading strong.

Try using the gloss enhancer before the S100, either the S100 Shine Enhancing Cleanser or P21S Gloss-Enhancing Paintwork Cleanser. It's a beneficial step with P21S or S100.

Gold Glass is a carnauba/polymer blend if I remember right, so that would tend to make it slicker.

I believe S100 is as well.

In fact, I don't think a *pure 100% natural wax* LSP exists. They all seem to contain some polymer (silicone or acrylic) for slickness/gloss. :nixweiss
