Unhappy with the results of my spray bomb attempt, it was time to go for broke and break out my spray-gun (next weekend anyways...). $200 in supplies later, it`s time to start the prep-work. Starting off with the passenger side today since it seems to be the worst side.
Took off the bottom graphic and marking out the dents:
Checking out the rust spots:
Well that was not what I expected, maybe it`ll be ok...
Nope...
Not proud of this, but it is a $3000 truck. Fiber-strand filler. It will get the old rockers cut off and new ones welded in next year. This is a low-budget project right now. After welding and fabricating all week for work, there was no way I was making myself do it.
Prepping for regular body filler:
Filled and ready for filler primer:
Ready for block sanding:
Bonus, my helper for today:
More to come tomorrow. The wheelwells has slight surface rust that was grinded off and primed with a rust primer. Undercoating will be applied to rockers and all lower surfaces. Lights, trim, mirrors, and door handles will be removed this time. At this moment I`m leaving them in just in case.
