Rust stains on leather seating surfaces.

My son has a 2005 Ford F-150 Lariat. He recently moved to a new apartment and had two 25 pound dumbells on the rear seats of his vehicle. They left rust stains on the leather seating surfaces. Any idea on how to get the rust stains out? He already tried Lexol and it didn't do anything. I've never encountered rust on leather, so I am loking for an answer for him.

Thanks in advance!

4 small squares where the flat surfaces of the weights made contact. It is light tan leather.

Not sure on this one, but since it is an iron oxide stain, I would give OxyClean a shot.

The way that product works chemically, would have a chance without damaging the leather.

This stuff Prochem Rust Remover B198 works well on carpet and upholstery, but I've never tried it on leather. Wouldn't hurt to try it on an inconspicuous spot first to make sure it's not going to ruin the leather.

Shameless plug: I love pro-chem products. Use them to extract my home carpets, car carpets, upholstery, tile, etc. It's a pretty popular line of chemicals for pro carpet cleaners. The rust remover was able to remove rust stains from white carpet that was surrounding very old steel air conditioning/heating registers. Just make sure you take appropriate health precautions when using their stuff.
