Ed... great thread! I was debating whether to get our EL rust proofed by Rust Check this year (it's a 2003) as we skipped it last year.
A Rust Check treatment costs $120 for your size car and they are usually performed by independant garages that represent RustCheck(Dominion Sure Seal), I'am not too confident on some of these fly-by-night garages with little or no training, at least with Walmart I get a corporate insurance if they screw anything up, also you can buy the Rust Check product at your local Canadian Tire store either in a spray can or a Schutlz gun bottle if you own a compressor and do it yourself.
CAA Quebec did a major study on rust proofing 2-3 years ago and the finding were that an anually applied petroleum based product offered the best protection. Rubber coating such as Ziebart were not recommended as water or moisture can be entrapped between the rubber coating and the sheet metal making matters worse and also the best time to apply the product is in the summer months contrary to the believe its in the cooler fall months, this way thee product is more liquid and creeps into all the crooks and crannies.
