everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has heard of/used rubbish boys original or dodo juice hard candy waxes. I have been to their site but I would like to see what the autopians on this site have to say before I purchase from england.

did you try a search I remeber several threads

what I remeber its a nice wax

but it is not for sale in the states

the the look is not worth the price

again that is only from what I remeber

Very popular on Detailing World right now for a few reasons:

1. great value/performance vs higher end waxes - when considered in the UK £ market...

2. funky marketing

3. company owners hang out there as well and are open to help and discuss their products

A new 'double wax' has just been announced - a hard wax base layer designed to be topped with a soft wax for max durability and looks.

You'll find many, many threads discussing them and showing the results obtained from the various waxes.

Agreed great waxes for the money

I am currently working my way through the range. I don't know if Dodo Juice or Rubbish Boys is available in the States yet so it may not work out cost effective.

They both have websites so might be worth emailing them

When it gets here I want to try some of the hard stuff out. I'm a fan of hard wax. Gets great reviews on Detailing World.

They are not great value for the USA market! I tested both Purple Haze and Banana Armour and as i have posted on other forums before found them to look good initally but then after about 3 weeks they slide. Durability is still there at 6 weeks, but looks fade. So they look good for aslong as Vic Concours before it fades but the DODO keeps on protecting.

They dont punch harder then products like Z5 which is like £20 and these waxes are £32. In terms of looks and durability, of courses looks is IMO.

You can buy Opti-Seal and PS for the price of one of these waxes and have good looks and durability in one hit. So many options out there, im a strong believe these waxes are good, but they are not that wonderful.

What you have is that new product wave, everyone hears about them and wants them. Most stepping up from OTC or similar and being shocked at how they look, yes nice. No not that wonderful. They are also major sponsors of Detailing World.

I'd just like to add something to the points above:

Rubbish Boy's and Dodo Juice are not the same company, just different companies that have worked together. Rubbish Boy's is also a reseller of Dodo Juice wax and sells other detailing products.

Rubbish Boy's Original Edition is not made by Dodo Juice, it is a totally different wax to any of the Dodo Juice waxes and probably just about any other wax on the market too. Dodo Juice helped bring this wax to market and offered advice in the development and production of it. It is made in very small quanties, by hand, for fun. If anyone fancies a read of it's origins have a read here

Dodo Juice / Rubbish Boy's Juiced Edition is made by Dodo Juice and is their take on the Original Edition recipe, but with a Dodo Juice twist. Again it is not the same as any other Dodo Juice wax, it has it's own style. This is a more mainstream wax compared to the Original Edition though, more refined, brightly coloured, mouth watering scent.

Bringing products from the US to the UK works from a price point a view, UK to US doesn't work quite the same, because of the exchange rate. In the UK we are halfing the price (excluding shipping), in the US you are doubling the price, which makes any UK detailing gear considerably less attractive from a price point of view.

As far as the other Dodo Juice waxes go, I have used them all, and like them all. Banana Armour is probably my favourite of the current bunch (excluding the Juiced Edition above). I certainly don't find that they "slide" after 3 weeks, in fact I have a car which has been wearing a layer of Banana Armour with a layer of Orange Crush on top for 2 months and still looks great, a wash is all that is required to bring it back.

Hi,

Just to clarify, i did NOT MEANT SLIDE OFF AS IN THE PRODUCT GOES FROM YOUR CAR.

I mean slide off as in the looks tail off, as a few others users as mentioned on various boards; They start of strong but suffer from NXT (orig) syndrome. Its there protecting, but the wow factor that got when you once applied the product is much diminished. Much more then other products on the market.

Looks are intially impressive, but they loose this with in the first month. Im not question how long they last, as in the how long the product is here. Simply, how long does the product look optimum for? Not long enough to justify the price.

When you go and look look, in the UK atleast you can get Nattys Red for £13.XX and you can Optimum OptiSeal for £15 and there you have 3 months of great looks for the same money.

If you machine polish your car, just get Z5 or Z2 for for around £20 there is a long lasting nice looking product. In these cases the claim that "Dodo jucice competes with waxes 2 or 3 times the price" is just somewhat floored. There are expensive products that are poor, and this is an middle priced product that really isnt as special as the marketing hype would have you believe. :up

Each to there to own at the end of the day, if your happy paying X and getting X then thats what counts. But when you break it down critically as i have above the argument for DoDo Juice is somewhat floored.

Certantly, when you consider it as a product for sale in the USA based on UK price it would not be a sensible price for what you get when you consider what else is on the market.

I understood what you meant, and I disagree.

People buy them, like them, tell their friends, buy some more, recommend them, keep on using them etc. That's not marketing hype.
