Rubbing Compound/SSR comparison

I gotta have more cowbell
I am touching up a few scratches in my old paint. I have sanded down the area, primed the surface and am ready to apply touch up paint. One of the final steps (or so I have read) is to apply rubbing compound to smooth out the new paint.

What is the difference between rubbing compound and the SSR line? The SSR2.5 I have feels more abrasive than the rubbing compound I have(turtle wax).

can't judge it by feel alone, but SSR2.5 will do the job...I would paint and then clear and then sand and then polish ..of course leaving drying and hardening time between each process..

I wet sanded some spots on my hood and smoothed them out with #2 so it is all a matter at how deep the scratches are. I say 2.5 will work great.
