Rubber friendly Tire Dressing

OK, Ive used damn near every tire dressing out there (solvents) Stoners MSLT, Eagle 1 dressing, Meg's endurance, Eagle 1 aerosol foam,...(water based) 303, Armorall

Question is, which one is going to be the most gentle on the rubber and provide the best uv protection. Probably 303, but what would be the next least expensive option.

I also like it to last at least 5 days and through a puddle or two.

suggestions..

I have been using the original formula Endurance for as long as I can remember and have never had an issue with it. It does contain UV protectants. I typically get about two weeks out of it on average.

I know that doesn't help much but, that has been my experience. Since I have been so happy with Endurance I really haven't tried a lot of other dressings.

hey, I got a GT specific question for you. I have some swirls on that 2" horizontal piece of the front doors right below the windows. and the little area on the ground effects where it notches in. How did you polish these areas, by hand? seems damn near impossible with my 6" pads or the edge of the 7.5" pads

i really like megs hot shine....easy to use and a nice look with lasting ability.....i hear their new protectant is sposed to come out this month....nxt protectant....im gonna try that on my interior, but should be able to use for tires too....

nxt protectant is already out, I heard it is kind of greasy like a dedicated tire dressing. I would test out a small area before putting it on the dash.

Ive used the NXT Protectant. It looks pretty good and lasts well. Only downside is it tends to sling even after sitting for a while.

Personally I like Stoners and the Tropi-Care tire dressing.

I tried Megs vinyl and rubber protectant yesterday and applied it with an Eagle One tyre swipe and buffed off with an MF. Not too bad at all, and thats in comparison to 303 and ArmorAll I normally use....

303 is the best for what your looking for, a runner-upper that is a little less expensive is Vinylex . I may get some more Vinylex myself. Both = :up in my book

Most clear, even some blue tinted, thick, greasy dressings tend to be the ones to avoid. They contain bad silicones (of which I can't remember the name, but it's one of those long chemically kinda names:D ) but the white, water based dressings tend to be the better and safer dressings as they contain good silicones.

As already noted, "303" is a great dressing and I would also recommend Auto Magic's "Super Dress-It". It can be used undiluted for a high sheen but I dilute mine 50/50 and it still gives off a great sheen, no sling off and works great on wheel wells and engine areas.

I think I am the only one that ever mentions Poorboy's Trim Restorer. Very matte look, for those that don't like bacon grease on their tires.

Yup it is hard and you risk the pad flying off the PC if you use the larger pads (don't ask how I know :))

I have a 3.5" backing plate and 4" orange power pads and white polishing pads from CMA. They work really well on those areas as well as the front bumper cover which can also be a pain with the larger pads.

Hope that helps.

Original Armor All is water based and rubber friendly. You can buy it in bulk at Costco for ridiculously cheap.

I also use No Touch in the spray can. It is $9 for 4 bottles at Costco too.

Both provide UV protection and I have used both on my tires for a very long time with no ill effects.

The only tire dressing I ever use is Mothers Duration and I like it , also it smells great , like sun tan lotion:cool:

I will be trying something different soon, what I am still:confused: :nixweiss

I'm with JimS . . .PBs Bold N Bright.

It's water based, doesn't leave a sticky or oily finish, darkens the tire nicely and leaves a nice satiny shine. :xyxthumbs

I scrub the tread off my tires every 20k, so I could use whatever, but I like the price, longevity, and look of Armor All Original, which does have UV blockers and is water based.

I'd use bacon grease, but I'd be concerned about dogs.
