Routine Wash Shampoo

Well, I chose the Meg's Hyper Wash for the time being. Why? Well, for exactly the reason Accumulator cautioned me against. This thread has been making me seriously want to try a couple shampoos but, well, I had to get in before that sale. So, I figured I'd stick with the Meg's because of the couple of recommendations and it's the cheapest. So, it's not that I'm not listening, it's just I needed some now but am still undecided. I also ordered a bottle of the Blackfire Wet Diamond.

I think I'll probably try something else on my next order (whenever that may be) but I wanted to let this thread go for a little longer so I can gather a few more opinions. If I see DG901/902 at a parts store I probably will pick it up, but I don't think I've seen any around locally.

So, you all can view the poll and, after a quick review of the thread, this is what I see for the "Other" suggestions.

Meg's Hyper Wash - 2
McKee's Power Wash - 1
McKee's 37 Xtreme Foam - 1
Optimum Car Wash - 2
PB Slick & Suds - 1

Here's the problem I have with the shampoos/car washes. There are times I want to wash the car and not remove the LSP, other times, I want to remove everything to start over. Which product does what. Certainly this is not clearly identified in the product literature or descriptions.

So, could we further classify these into those two groupings? For example, the hyper wash, does it remove product? Which is best for this?

Yeah, the Blackfire is. I'm sure a good portion of it is purely marketing, but I'm planning on using the crystal coat and possibly other BF products and the idea of the matching shampoo just makes me feel a little better. Plus, it was on sale this weekend so I figured what the heck.

The Hyper Wash will (for now) be for my truck and any friends that can convince (or pay) me to help/do theirs. I'll still use the DUB/Wash and Wax whenever I do the free ones that some people (my parents) continuously pester me to do. I can only take it for so long.

Sorry for the multi-post but I don't know how to multi-quote in Tapatalk if you even can.

I don't subscribe to the belief of a wash stripping a LSP enough that I would feel comfortable reapplying after a simple wash. Would I mind trying a "stripping" shampoo to complement the rest of the procedure, no, I wouldn't and plan to add one or two to my arsenal some time.

Coincidentally enough, the only BF wash I ever used (the one that came in their "All Finish Paint Protection" system back when BF first hit the market) was *so* harsh on the LSP (namely BF AFFPP) that I had to redo after almost every wash! I ended up using it on wheels/wells instead of the body proper. So I'll be interested to hear how the stuff you bought from them works out.

And just FWIW, I reapply my LSPs after just a regular wash all the time. Often I don't even clay. I know...Autopian Heresy

First off, once I get this next order and someone manage to find the time when the weather is cooperating I will happily let you know how it turns out. Might be a while though since I still have to get the coating on.

I wasn't trying to bash anyone either, and I reapply without stripping at times. I only care about all off if I'm switching LSP. I just prefer to play it safe than trust one product that's not designed to do something to do it... If that makes sense.

Yeah, that makes sense. I don't mind just washing if I'm only switching between similar waxes, but I too want to strip things off if I'm making a big change.

I rarely use car wash shampoo anymore, as a rinseless wash is more efficient, and we don't have the winter weather issues that some experience. That being said I prefer Adam's Car Wash Shampoo to the many others I have tried. The main reason is i can let is dry on the paint as i wash the rest of the car. The downside is the it is not very strong. The shampoo will dry on the surface, but at the end of the wash I load up the wash pad go over the whole car (it goes quick as it is already clean) to 'reactivate' the suds. Then a pool rinse and dry.
I also use this shampoo to 'strip' wash the car - I add 2-3 oz. of Adam's APC to the wash mix and it will power thru most dirt and wax/sealants.
