I discovered the tactic behind the Buy X get X sale...

Ray had to send me a couple new waxes and that Blackfire Crystal Coat and now I feel that some of my stuff is sub-par. Plus, I won a bottle of Polish Angel Master Sealant (that I haven't had the opportunity to try out yet).

Now, I have to buy the applicators for the coating (will be trying that on the wife's Suburban I think. Big car for my first time, but I'll manage.) I also feel the need to purchase the Microfiber polishing discs that I've been wanting but haven't purchased yet. Oh, and don't forget some squeeze bottles for the PB White Diamond.

Don't get me wrong though, I am not complaining and am more than happy about the free gifts... but the wife is an enabler to this addiction.

Anyway, all those decisions were pretty simple but I'm running into a roadblock on what shampoo to upgrade too. I really haven't been able to do much this winter (too cold, snow, etc. and no garage) and haven't been able to touch the new truck. I was using Meg's Ultimate Liquid wax and washing with Meg's Ultimate Wash and Wax. I used DUB Car Wash for the washes I didn't want anything left behind on. I haven't really experienced any problems with either and, quite honestly, they're good shampoos for the price (in my very limited opinion). However, I think it's time to upgrade waxes.

So, any suggestions on a new shampoo would be greatly appreciated. Vote in the poll or add your own. :)

EDIT: Trying to make this purchase before the BF sale ends tomorrow night but I'll still be watching after that.

I love the blackfire wet diamond shampoo. Dirt just drips off the car.

I use the foam canon first with honey dew then do 2bm with BFWDCS

EDIT: Damn I didnt even see your poll up top but I see my suggestions are on it lol

Are you still looking for something that leaves nothing behind?
Well, I'm okay with it leaving stuff behind. I might try replacing both. I'm not too concerned with it leaving something as long as it won't interfere with those two products.

Megs hyper wash.

I was going to say this as well. I just used Optimum Car Wash. Very nice shampoo. DP Xtreme Foam is nice as well which is now McKee's 37 Xtreme foam.

If you are going to use Blackfire Coating then Blackfire Shampoo would be a nice synergistic shampoo for it.

For sure. I also had the chance to try PB Slick & Suds. Right up there with the best of them. A lot of good choices for soaps today. I have also read DG #901 is really a great soap.

I voted for DG901. Cleans great, reasonable price, and can be obtained locally at Car Quest and other retailers.

3D pink is my current go to, will be giving CG Citrus a try after since I've heard good things about it.

Those who follow me at all know I am willing to spend $ on better products or more long lasting products. I will try anything that catches my attention or anything I am given to review. I have really not used a bad wash ever-ust lucky choices I guess. I have come to the conclusion that I will stick with the most economical product I like the smell of. Poorboy's Super Slick and Suds AKA SSS fit the bill perfectly for me Economical, loads of suds, lasts the whole wash and I like the smell. I also feel I owe it to Steve and Poorboy's since it was his Detail Weekend that really got me interested in serious car care. I really learned more that 2 day weekend in Nyack in 2009 with Steve, Ron, and Dave, than I have in all the time I have spent fine tuning my process since. I got concepts, got my first hands on experience with a polisher (Ron's FLEX), Got my hands on a rotary, learned about double stacking grit guard's, double buckets, sealants, waterless washes (SPRAY AND WIPE-I MISS YOU-think I need to order some), polishes, pads, headlight restoration, interior cleaning, how to use clay, how to sheet the water off a car with a good LSP, the fact that you need to even clean wheel wells (who knew?), cleaning the barrels of wheels (I though you guys were nuts), exhaust tip polishing and protection? Plus the hot dogs and onions were pretty all right too. I drove in with a swirled up mess of a Jet Black M35X and I was told don't expect to complete your car in 2 days, expect to learn how to clean and restore your car so you can do it on your own. Well after 2 very long days I completed my car thanks to the poorboy's crew of helpers and drove home with a car that looked like a pool of oil.

So on the washes-that is what this is about right? I almost forgot. Man can I go of on a tangent or what !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Poorboys Super Slick and Suds is the one I started with when I got serious about detailing, and I just re purchased a gallon so I am set for a while.

Between then and now I have tried:
Optimum car wash (good but more $)
Polish Angel Glisante-Great Product, nice eucalyptus smell, slick and easy to rinse, just a little pricy for me.
Lusso (good, very mild and when I was a wax got my LSP lasted longer with it),
Ultima Paint guard wash (good but the cap kept splitting and I lost too much product with it drying out or transferring the thick liquid into other bottles).
Reset is my after winter prep wash for coatings and my occasional get the junk off to see if the coating is still there wash, before I commit to re coating.
Getch G-Wash-Nice but expensive

Gyeon Bath +- I used 1X and it left a film on my windows. I have since been told I used it wrong so I will try again when I clean up my Foul Weather Friend a 2002 Infiniti Qx4. Just to share, you need to wash 1 panel and immediately flood rinse. Leaving it too long with cause streaking and a mess , especially on windows. Its suppose to top off coatings with the effort of a wash.

I have a gallon of the Mr. pink. It's an ok basic soap but not that special. When I'm back in a living situation with a hose, 901 will be my go to. Really nice stuff. Cleans well, slick, and rinses clean.

Right now it is Optimum Car Wash. Lots of foam. Highly concentrated. Leaves nothing behind. I especially like it on coated cars. If you are looking for something cheaper Meg's Hyper Wash would be my number two.

Of those on your list, I'm happy with 3D Pink Car Soap (though I mix mine with Griot's Car Wash for added lubricity). Get it in the 5-gallon bucket and it oughta be cost-effective.

I'd caution against buying *purely* by price as cheaper shampoos have performed very poorly for me, including with regard to wash-induced marring (even though that's primarily a matter of technique IMO).

Have been using DG901 gallon size. Worked very well. Water spotting at a minimum.

Now have Lusso in the half gallon . Will start using in about two weeks. Seems to have good feedback on using it based on past searches on this site.

Wow, a lot of people chose #901. I actually just threw it in the list because of what I've heard about Duragloss and the price. Still have a few hours to decide though.

In order of how I tried them (from your list):

Mr Pink:
With so much hype, I guess I expected too much. Didn't care for it much. Disliked that it took a serious amount of rinsing (with garden hose) to feel I removed all the soap from the car. Haven't considered ever getting more

Duragloss 901
- I do like this soap. I once tried it, and eventually bought the gallon portion (902). It does seem to leave a bit more of a shine than some other other soaps I've tried.

3D Pink -
Like this one as well. Rinses easy, cleans well. Doesn't seem to leave anything behind. EXCELLENT value. I still can't believe the ridiculous price I paid for the 5 gallon jug. Even today, it's still a bargain soap. 19$ for a gallon? Easy sell. (902 is listed at 30$)

Yeah, 901/902's shine left behind is worth it to me. It makes my silver paint pop just a bit more than some many spray waxes. Love the side and slickness too.
