Rotary with prewax cleaner

After reading the article here about over-polishing, I think I will just use clay, prewax cleaner, then LSP. I understand that it is best to remove as little as clear coat as possible. I will be working on my 2003 white Ford Crown Vic.

I already have a rotary buffer, would this be okay to use with a prewax cleaner? I know that the rotary buffer will cut faster than a orbital. Any suggestions?

Hi, I've used the rotary with a pre-wax cleaner: Meg's Premium Paint Cleaner (aka MPPC, discontinued) and a black LC finishing pad @ 600rpm.

It turned out nicely and even removed a very light scratch. So even a finishing pad at the lowest speed setting on a rotary can remove some clear - I guess it was the soft paint of my '92 BMW.

Just keep the rotary moving at 1.5 to 3 inches per second and don't put any more pressure than necessary to keep the rotary flat, stable, and steady. :up
