For all you rotary proffesionals out there, When you guys are compounding a car with a rotary if there is little to no clear coat left is it safe to use the rotary or should you just use the pc????
Depends on what the finish looks like, but I would hesitate to use the rotary if there is little clear left in fear of having to do more work that what I bargained for.
If there is no clear, you certainly "can" use the rotary. It's not something I would do if you haven't had much experience with it. Just know that your RPM's do not need to be nearly as high, nor do you need something as abrasive.
If it's ypur car then I say go for it if you don't want to pay for a paint job first .
If its a friend or client I would let them know that the best way would be wet sanding and reshooting clear over it. Hard to say without some pics but play it safe with this one..
