rotary usage (need advice)

Hi everybody. To make a long story short, i'm interested in learning to properly use rotary (as it is more available than "orbitals", at least here). I've lurked around and found a lot of interesting info (on Autopia and especially here - awd330, thanks for thread about using rotary :)). Also found link to repairnation.com someone has posted. But recently, while surfing on Farecla site, got links of some of their training clips. So I would like if anyone here using rotary can take a look and say if that's proper techinque. I know that rotary usage usually involves different habits (some people tilt the pad, some keep the pad flat), pad manufacturer recommendations (some recommend keeping the pad flat, some don't) etc.

Enough rant from me, just take a look if you can;)
Thanks in forward.

That is not a bad video but:
1. I usually do not tilt the buffer that much ... as you learn the pad and product you are using, tilting the pad slightly will sometimes offer more cutting ability. Most of the time I keep foam pads as flat as possible
2. It seemed like they were using way too much water. Their products may require it though. Water will change the cutting characteristics of the polish sometimes making it more abrasive.
Each person has their own techinque so the best advice I can give is to research as much as possible, maybe even observe someone local that does a good job with a rotary ... and get your hands on some practice pieces and if you have problems, post some specific questions with regards to product, pads and techinque.

Farecla polishes are interesting, break from the norm products. I think it might be used to polish Rolls Royces and Bentleys.

As for the tilting the pad: it's been drilled into me never to do that, potential for burning, marring, all kinds of bad stuff as I understand it. I think that may have been part of the issues Chip Douglas was having in the past. I stay away it from it entirely and almost all of my rotary usage has only been on practice fenders.

The Meguiars video, once availble for viewing via Autopia shows so really great tips. However, now the only way to see it may be to purchase it.

I think Bentley and RR used to use Autoglym, but I am to sure what they use now due to the German parents.

The video is available for download on the Better Car Care site.
