Rotary Masters Only !

This is a competition I think everyone can enjoy. The rules are as follows, you can use any rotary you like, any polish/compound you like. You must discribe your methods of corrections, You must post before and after pictures without an LSP. No cheating simple paint correction. Who will be the best ? let the Autopians choose.

To give everyone a fair start, the contest starts posting December 23. Good Luck !

:bounce

Kind of a silly contest...

I can get 100% correction on a panel with a Flex... and I can post amazing before's and after's.

I was going to offer this same exact contest at the upcoming Auto Geek Detail Fest. Seeing with your own 2 eyes is the only true way to judge the outcome.

Makita, foamed wool, megs 105, 1800 rpm. Amazing!

But we can still have fun with the idea right ?

Could be interesting to see what happens, but I'm afraid too many people won't take it seriously with pictures online.

In just want to create an interesting thread that eventually gets locked. In hindsight someone has already posted gay pics, I guess they dont care about the date. I want to give everyone a fair chance to take good pictures. We will love this thread . Thanx for your support David.

sorry to say but i agree all the way not like it use to be on here :buffing:

If you guys honestly think this is a good idea, then I am down with it. I think since we're using pictures, taken by different people under different conditions it a) won't really tell us anything and b) will probably just cause people to get into arguments. I apologize for my awesome hair removal picture.

So what would be the point of this whole idea??

Don't we already have a click and brag section along with a before and after section???

If you're really serious about this, you're going to have to put stipulations on things, for example lighting and camera angles will be a big deal, you'll need to have the exact lighting in the before as in the after along with the exact angle of the camera. It is way too easy to slightly adjust setting or angles on a camera to make it look like the paint is better then it really is.

As long as people understand it's purely for fun and means absoultly nothing to anyone. Something to pass the time and have some fun.

I first wish to thank you for your support. I read a post saying that canada has the best rotary users. Let the masses judge. Pics are all we have ! For fun only, start date just prior to Xmas. Thanx for all the interest so far

Examples: oxidation 50/50 pics. Show your best before and after pics with a highspeed buffer. and the Autopians will decide who is the best with the rotary. Simple concept !!

No such thing as a BEST detailer, just like there is no BEST poker player. Too subjective.

Once the surface is leveled, how do you differenciate what looks best over the internet? I bet even in person you wouldn't want to take the pepsi test.

Someone like rydawg or Thodd with their DSLR would smoke anything you or I can post with our P&S cameras and P&S doesn't mean point and shoot if you know what I mean. :D

You have a valid point, but lets see what comes of it.. If your a better photographer, or have the best camera then you win , but not because your the best with the rotary you just know how to manipulate the public which makes you a fraud. I think the shots will speak for themselves, and seperate the detailers from the boys with dry feet.:bounce

Wait, what? Are you referring to my post in another thread? If so, you took that totally out of context.

Surely, my saying "shame us rotary pro's are all in Toronto" *in reply* to someone saying they couldn't find someone who used a rotary in Ottawa, couldn't have possibly made you think I was saying the best rotary users are in Canada. Part of me thinks you must be referring to another post, and part of me thinks you really did, by some strange leap of the imagination, think that is what i was saying. :scared: If you did misunderstand, I will try to clear it up.

The OP wanted to find someone to detail his car via rotary in Ottawa.

I posted and said gtpaul was in Ottawa, but uses a Flex.

Kaval and Tyler posted and said they use rotaries, but are in Toronto.

I replied and said it's a shame all the guys with rotaries are in Toronto.

I hope that clear it up...
