Hello guys...I have been using a rotary from Harbor Freight for quite some time now, but really do not like the slow start feature with the trigger. I like to "feather" the trigger on certain areas and my HF rotary makes it a bit tough to stay consistant. I am looking to find out the different makes of rotary machines which have the quick trigger...Thanks so much in advance!

My DeWalt 849 is the best machine I've ever used. It is a little noisy, but it has quick start so I can feather, lots of power, and a decent weight. i just wish it was cordless.

Weight is the enemy.
I don't think the issue is with the slow start feature of the machine, I think it's a machine defect. The trade-off in getting a less expensive machine (the HF rotary) as opposed to a top of the line machine (the DeWalt) is that some parts will be of lower quality. This is the case with the trigger, it only has a few points where it can activate where the DeWalt has a ton of points. It may also be due to the DeWalt's greater torque or power. I doubt anyone has dyno sheets for these machines but I'd wager that would tell you something right there.
Thanks for the replies guys...I had started out with a Black & Decker 7" rotary that had a quick response trigger but the lowest setting was 2100 rpm's. I like the idea of that Dewalt. I just was not sure who all made quick response polishers. I am going to look into a Porter Cable as well as the Dewalt for now. Thanks again...
i have had a porter cable for 4-5 years now and it seems like a good machine. I had a dewalt that was used only for alum. polishing until the bearings went out after many hours of hard service.
Over all .. can't loose with either.
I can't really remember which was heavier or louder... look for the best deal $$ I'd buy either one again

I've Owend and tested about a dozen or so high speed buffers, From the Harbor Freight type to Snap-on and Craftsman. The best one out there IMO is the dewalt 849. It has wide range of rpm's, A quick response trigger, And its bulletproof. I own 2 of them and both have many hours of use and still going strong.
