rotary handles

I see alot of modern rotaries today that have the slow start capability, variable speed and such. The makita 9227cx3 has the handle that I like the most and even though I don't own one just yet, my thinking is, that handlew on the makita would give you the most control vs the standard side handles on the dewalt for instance. As some other rotaries have the side handle.



My question is, is it possible to get just the handle from the makita and fit it to another cheaper rotary such as a Coleman, Wein etc... I don't detail on a professional basis but I would like to have one for speed is always nice but more importantly, I'm more interested in the results they can produce. Are the thread sizes on the makita handle pretty much the same as the handle threads on some other rotaries?? This would save me some money and still get a decent rotary. Thanks,,,,,,AR
 
I was actually thinking about the same thing the other day.

I was hoping to find a makita at lowes or someplace and try to screw the handle from my dewalt onto it.

I really want to try the overhead handle on my dewalt, I dont like side handles and I find it uncomfortable to use no handle.
 
I have the makita 9227cx3. It came with both the side handle, and the bail handle (the over the top one). The side handle screws into either side for left or right handed use. The bail handle attaches to the machine with a bolt on both sides of the machine where the regular side handle attaches. The bail handle was a tight fit, so if another machine is any wider or narrorwer than the makita, it wont work.

Yup the Makita 9227 comes with both killer handles. I wouldn't trade it fer notin'. Those cheap ones skimp on motors and features, but a Makita you'll have it for life. Dewalt's good too, just heavier. Also Porter Cable is probably the best cheap one, if your going for value.
 
I got a crazy idea.... How about making your own bail handle? I also agree it is quite better than the side handle.
