Rotary and Optimum

How well does the optimum line like a rotary? Im thinking of trying out HC, OC, OP. I saw a three pack on autogeek I think.

Im going to try menzerna but im going to do that later when some sip comes in.

In my opinion, the Optimum works a lot better with a rotary. The rotaty has more speed than the pc and the rotary breaks the Optimum polishes down a lot easier. You can't go wrong with any of the Optimum line. Menzerna is also awesome. I've only tried the IP, and the FPII though.

For any mild to moderate swirls I just use OP with Edge blue pad at 1800rpms and WOW. I was shocked at how well this gets rid of swirls. I guess it's the long working time of the OP. When I only used a PC my go to was OC with LC orange. i tell ya the OP with edge blue on a rotary is more effective. I don't even need to use OC hardly anymore and OHC i pretty much only use on plastic lights.

OP with rotary highly recommended!

I've always been a huge Menzerna fan, but the stuff is so expensive, I've been using High Temp and Optimum lines of polishes alot more lately.

I really like the Optimum line for light correction work. On hard clears, you'll need to go one step more aggressive on your pad choice than what you would normally use, and it'll take a bit more work to get the job done.

I don't particularly like Optimum Polish as a finishing polish, though. It just doesn't work as fast, not does it give as good of results, (IMHO) as Menzerna PO106FF. Even though the stuff is crazy expensive, I think PO106FF is really worth the expense.

The Optimum line is sooo much easier to use than Menzerna Super Intensive Polish. Lately I've been saving the SIP for use only on really hard clears, and doing most of my correction with Optimum or High Temp polishes. I really like the long working time of the Optimum, and as I said, they are sooo easy to use. High Temp Extreme Cut does have more cut than Optimum, but the High Temp has a (to me, at least) very short working time. I'm able to finish the Optimum Compound or Optimum Hyper Compound out much better with their longer working time than the HTEC.

If you're new to the rotary, I'd definitely go with the Optimum line for correction, and PO106FF for finishing.

If you use the OP with a finishing pad, it will usually produce a very fine finish. But if you still want to step up a bit, I'd definitely recommend OPS because it has the newer, super fine abrasive package in it.

Ya the menzerna stuff isnt cheap. I noticed looking at the price of SIP!!!! eeekkk!! How long is the usual work time on a rotary for Optimum?

If you wish (or need), you can work a panel up to 10 minutes. This a bit temperature-, technique- and defect-dependent.

Optimum polishes are very well lubricated polishes. If you decide that you put your machine down to check your progress, wipe the working area, then go inside to drink or eat something, when you come out again you can pick the machine up and the Optimum will pull a reliable buffing film again without reloading and without being dry.
