Road trip, Wed. finally going to get what I need.

Finish up, in the morning, now that the parts are here to complete the front brake job, on the Charger and then off for an hour or so drive to pick up the back glass/windshield for the T-Bird!

Found one, actually two, but the other guy had no idea of how he could make some bucks, so of to the west about a 100 miles to pick it up.

Local glass shop will remove the shattered glass and put in the new one for $60.

I removed and put in car glass years and years ago, but don't trust myself in this case, after all those years.

30 years ago that glass was $50 new, today, if you can find a new one and have it installed, $800 to $900.

Gonna get by with, including gas, etc for $375.

Not happy, but yet I am, reality is a tough thing these days.

Next move, dual exhaust, with glas packs, new pipe, new hangers, new glas packs, $300.00.

Old cars need love just like new ones, but they just get worth more each year, so spend the money.

(don't tell me I am wrong, it's my fantasy world, not yours)

$60 for R & R of glass is super cheap. Especially if the urethane kit is included. Not worth slipping up and having another broken piece of glass on your hands.
 
It's old school fastening, get out the old, clean the channel, put in the cord, put in the sealant, push it in, pull the cord out, tap the glass in to set, replace the trim, done, in, drive away.

Before your time, youngin!

I watch my son detailing vehicles and renovating classic cars, doing things that were so easy fo me back then, now...not so much (and that's understating it)



This for me anyway is what is meant by 'those who can't do; teach'

 
Yeah, he wanted way too much for it. I made a fair offer, he just got his panties in a bunch thinking it was worth twice what it is.

David, it's tough getting old, I get my "decades" mixed up.

You are right, it is glued in not the old slip-in way.

Well, anyway, the glass is down at the glass shop and they will call me when to bring the Bird down to install it.

5 hour drive up and back, to get it, and it didn't shatter (as old glass in prone to do) on the trip home.

Wrapped it in a furniture blanket, set it up on edge in the back seat of the Charger, rode just fine.
