RMG and Meguiars Brush report

i can't ever see myself using ANY brush (even if it's softer than some wash mitts) on the paint, no matter how soft it is. the traditional wash mitt is the way for me. to each his or her own.... just not for me. ;)
 
I've been using the New Meg's Versa Body Brush for about a month on every car that I detail no matter the color. It cleans fine and I've never had any swirling or light marring. I use it with Hyper-Wash in a grit guard bucket and continue to scrape it along the guard while washing. The handle is a bit cumbersome so I use it mostly with the short handle and on bigger cars with the long handle. It is important to keep it rinsed and free of dirt while washing.



As far as the OXO brushes are concerned they are good but the bristles to not hold up on the long wash brush for the money you pay. The small tire OXO brush has decent durability.

We get a lot of fine sand blown onto our cars after a quick sprinkle followed by a blast of wind. I'm still not convinced it didn't make these lines. Not the ends of the bristles...the trapped fine sand they come down on. Too patterned in the direction I used the brush not to think there is a problem for my condition. But, I'm not 100% sure.



However, if your getting perfect results from it, I believe you and think your fortunate. That brush really holds the soap. I'll try it again on a small spot or when I'm about to do a full detail on black just to see if your right, lucky or a better washer then I am.



Hey, just a thought. What soap do you use and do you deal with these water mud spots of blown fine sand/dust on those cars?

I just tested it on a new clean CD with fresh soap water and a clean Meguiars Wash Brush. No grit, dust, dirt, or dusty sand involved. Very, very, very lightly I saw nothing but it didn't take King Kong pressure either to start the micro-scratches, but you can test / judge for yourself if you want. I'm positive now it put those fine lines in the carnauba finish. Its not horrible but it DOES make some fine lines.



Oh, I got NOTHING from a 95% dry sheepskin mit and I pressed hard...much harder then with the Meguiars brush.

I can't even conceive using a brush, no matter who makes it, on my paint.
