Risking Death to Give You Results

Well, its cold up here, with LOTS of snow, but I still risked the elements to give you some shocking results on Collonite 476S Double Coat wax. It still beads like new!



I was shocked, after almost 3-4 months, maybe 5 (my brain is cold), and it still looks like new. Its seen +30oC all the way to -35oC! I'm really impressed.



Slickness is still very good, but it needs to be clayed. Beading is excellent, and sheeting is almost better than before. Depth is deminished a little already, but still, very impressed!

Now after some WARM water and quadruple the amount of soap I usually use, this is it.

I was freezing my behind of yesterday doing my wife's car and it was only around 50 F!
 
It must have hit +1*C today huh? :) We're at 43*F here. My car is the only one around that isn't caked in salt/dirt, because I washed it yesterday and dodged the puddles all the way to work. The rest of the vehicles look just like your before pics. Depressing ain't it? :(



That is impressive durability. I've got some Collinite IW coming next week. I'm anxious to put some of that on the lower half of my car, to see how it does against the winter's wrath.
 
When I washed the car, it was -6. Its +1 right now, but supposed to go down to -20 something tonight, so the roads won't be slushy anymore. :)

I've washed the car in -30 weather before. Big snowmobile gloves, then some extra big yellow latex gloves over top. Worked pretty good. I'm not doing that again though... :eek:
 
With the hose? I take it you must mean with QEW?



My record is 3*F with QEW in the garage. I won't do that again either. I've got some nice cotton-lined latex gloves for this winter. I usually wait until the temp is above 25*F to wash the car though, unless the car is REALLY bad. It's just such a PITA when you get water freezing on the car.

Now that I am in the warm climate of Texas , I have to ask... is that temperature celcius or fahrenheit? Not that it isn't cold just makes a difference to me is all.



No matter the temperature it sounds like durability is not an issue at your house.

Thats celcius. And that was with a hose. Wash it quick as hell, then drive 'er in to a semi heated garage thats at maybe -10oC. It works alright. Cold as hell though.
 
The past few days, we've been sitting around 8-10 above here in Edmonton, which I'm not complaining about at all. I heard how cold it got in Winterpeg this week... sure am glad I wasn't there. :) And the snow! Talk about winter arriving with a bang. The one thing I wish they did in Edmonton that was ALWAYS done in the 'peg was clearing the side streets after every major snowfall. We're lucky if the residential streets get cleared once during the winter.



That is some very nice beading... I'm currently giving Zaino a try, so we'll see how it stands up to Edmonton winters. Your pictures are seriously making me think about giving the Collinite a try. How easy does it go on/come off?

It's definately easy to use. :up It goes on and off fairly easy. I had some slight hazing on my hood, but I came back with QD and a MF towel the next day, and it buffed right out.

Dang it got cold there fast, its only -1C to 5C here in the eastern side. I can't even work at 2C comfortably. Your nose begins to run and you hand tightens up. You results on 476S are amazing. I think my testing got screwed due to me using DI water, the question is does DI water diminish beading ! I don't wash my car anymore in the winter, causes more damage than good, just let a fresh snow fall and melting do the washing instead. I remember washing my Cavalier and my glass headlight lens cracked due to the temperature extremes and the expansion of water under moldings and gaskets can't be good.
