I use 5 of them and two bone sponges for GDWM style RW on my SRT - love these mitts but the bone sponge is great too -- the nap appears tad shorter, however on the bone compared to the mitt

The cuffs *do* seem to pop out a lot but I`m always leery of cutting `em off lest things unravel in a huge way. And yeah, IME they can mar paint something awful, even the softest ones. My favorite mitts are basically cuffless, just an edging like a regular MF towel (which can, of course, do damage too..no free lunch but I hold `em shut by the open end anyhow).

If you were using a dozen or so more Bones I`d probably think it`s OK ;)

i do have a bag full of them somewhere (both bone and rw mitt)
probably in my 3rd bedroom which was taken over by boxes of detail stuff i never really needed in the first place, lol

Anyone wash the bone sponge in the washing machine? Do they hold up well to repeated washings?

I`ve never had an issue

MY washing machine does not have an agitator in it though. i didn`t want that style of machine. i remember in my apt my towels would be wrapped around that stupid agitator thing in the middle

Hey, yet another one of those !YMMV! things!

I *only* like my old agitator-style washer (which is now in the shop) as my more modern HE one with no agitator is the one which gets stuff all twisted/knotted up (and doesn`t clean worth anything either, so workclothes get washed out in the shop). Come to think of it, I don`t think I`ve ever had an agitator do that wrapping thing and I`ve been doing laundry since I was a kid in the `60s..gee, wonder what makes our experiences so different?!?

I feel so strongly about this that I`d rather buy an old used washer than any new one, at least for the shop. Even Accumulatorette sometimes wants her stuff washed out there instead of in the "good" one.

As far as durability goes, my sheepskin mitt wears out after a few washes in a washing machine, and tends to shed some fibers as well. I`ve taken to just rinsing it out and only washing it after a few car washes.

With a rinseless wash, the media tends to accumulate more dirt. So, if I can just throw this in the wash with my other mf towels, so much the better.

Yeah, I hardly ever wash mine either, and it does shed a bit in the washer.

You using the "Delicate" setting? Washing with Woolite? I`m a bit cynical about the Woolite, but I have a huge jug of it that I inherited, oughta last this lifetime.

Well, as I currently live in an apartment I`m dependent on the washing facilities I have. The machines only have a setting for temperature, so I cannot select a delicate, or normal cycle. I just set it to "hot" and use a regular detergent (currently have Arm & Hammer) and dry on low heat. I don`t use fabric softener or dryer sheets.

Bill1975- Ah, OK...now I follow. Gee, I somehow think I should`ve already known that from your earlier posts :o Yeah, a Regular cycle is probably pretty hard on them. FWIW, I air-dry mine.
