Hi all, sorry for the noob question but is there a list of the right speed's to use the Dewalt DW 443 at. For example what is that right speed to use Poorboys SSR 2.5 and so on? Any help would be great, and yes I did do a search. Lucas

You can spread at a slower speed..around 2..always making sure your pad is on the paint..then kick it up to 5 or 6. Remember the Dewalt is a little faster..6 being 6800 OPM.

1200-1500 rpm for light polishing

1200-1500 rpm for medium polishing

1500-1800 rpm for heavy polishing

This is my general rule of thumb.

The 443 is a DA. But Sean's rotary RPMs are good. In some cases you can bump it over 2000 but that for wool pad work and it is rarely needed.

Regardless of machine, you can use the above mentioned speeds with every DA. 3-4 for spreading, the above for polishing. The higher the speed, the heavier the correction.

Don't worry about the exact OPMs. There are DAs that have smaller pad throw (3-4 mm), but they are compenstaing this with a significantly higher OPM number (up to 24.000). This ultra fast jiggle often breaks down even the more difficult polishes pretty quickly. It finishes up the coarser ones to LSP-ready levels too. The slower ones, such as the PC have a quite big, 8.8 mm pad throw. That means heavier vibration. A good compromise is a powerful machine with a 5-6 mm pad throw and a 6000-8000 OPM capability.

Bence- I have a cheap random orbit polisher and it seems to both wiggle and rotate(under light to moderate pressure) I guess under heavy pressure it might not rotate. Do all RO polishers work this way?

Sean, according to the specs, the speed range on the PC is 2500-6000 OPM.
