I noticed with Poorboy`s clay, it even gets a bit softer when stored in a "hot" environment. I left the container in the car for several days, and it gets pretty warm in there right now. When I went to use it, super pliable.

When I lived in the Pacific Northwest, working through the winters, I always ran the claybar under really hot water for a bit to get it more pliable and it would stay really pliable for a long time..

Since the Claytowels came out - Speedy Surface Prep Towel - my claybar shelf is pretty much a very lonely, quiet, place... :)

Another tip! Thanks. Hot water, simple but effective. :)

I don`t use clay bar much these days. I have a Nanoskin Autoscrub - 6" - that I sometimes use by machine, but usually with the hand grip thing. Also have the Nanoskin sponge for smaller areas. I haven`t dropped them!

Jesus !

Having used the SM Arnold Speedy Prep Rubber Towel for a few years, I can say its nice to be able to just rinse it off with the hose or in the bucket, rather than wash the claybar off with Blackfire Claybar Cleaner (which is a really good product for clay)..

What I have noticed is that the Speedy Prep will not be as "efficient" in removing gunk off of paintwork like the good old claybars do..
I sometimes have to go over a spot in a section again after I quickly wipe if off with a clean cotton towel (absorbs really good) and drying one hand and going lightly across that spot..

I think for outright speed in getting this part of the Detail done, nothing beats the newer technology and of course the newer technology lasts longer and rinses completely clean in just water..

But, if you have the time and I dont know who does anymore :) and want to get a surface really clean and smooth, the claybar and something like this --
Dodo Juice Born Slippy clay lubricant is really hard to beat... :)
