Review - Ultima Elastrofoam Paint Cleaning System - Garry Dean - Tampa, FL - Premium Custom Detailing

Garry Dean

Garry Dean Quality!
I was in Bradenton, FL yesterday at the Premium Finish Care facility shooting some video for them when I go my hands on this product for the first time.

Immediately, I was amazed at how easily and well this clay bar alternative works.

I got some time yesterday to do some detailing on my work truck and shot a video review of the system. I accidentally turned the vivid option on on my camera so be ready for over bright colors. It was also shot in HD 720p.

Check out the video and share your thoughts.

Thanks for watching!

Interesting product, never seen it before. Sorry but I've got a ton of questions.
  • is it like a Mr Clean magic eraser for your paint?
  • what is actually doing the work, the pad or the solution.
  • can you reuse the pad over and over with other lubricants, like ORN or a QD?
  • can you use the solution with another pad like a sponge applicator?
  • it says can be used after sealant application to remove bonded contanination without removing or dulling the sealant finish, how is this possible?

Interesting product, never seen it before. Sorry but I've got a ton of questions.

It's been out for about 4-5 years now.
  • is it like a Mr Clean magic eraser for your paint?

Mr Clean is A Big NO NO to use on paint.

  • what is actually doing the work, the pad or the solution.

The Pad does the most work, the solution helps glide it across the surface.

  • can you reuse the pad over and over with other lubricants, like ORN or a QD?

Yes, with a QD or the one it comes with.

  • can you use the solution with another pad like a sponge applicator?

I never try it that way but seems why not.

  • it says can be used after sealant application to remove bonded contanination without removing or dulling the sealant finish, how is this possible?

It will remove almost all of the LSP on the surface just like a clay bar.

Hopes this helps.

Awesome! I was just talking to someone over on AGO about that stuff the other day, it's good to hear that it's not just hype. Might have to try this out now!

Thanks for the video. I've always been courious about it but I have just stuck with clay. After using it did you think one works better than the other? Will you stick with using it over clay?

looks very good, maybe I'll have to try it. On an abrasiveness scale how does it compare to clay, as gentle as Pinnacle Ultra or more agressive like most other clays.

I like the idea that you don't have to keep folding the clay to get a clean surface, can you just spray the pad with lubricant and wipe pad on a MF to clean it?

I am still testing it out. I havent used it on a dark colored vehicle yet, only on two silver ones. If it doesnt mar I will be switching to this because it works easier and much faster. I will keep you all posted.

I just wanted to share my initial thoughts.

It would be best to either wash the block off in a clean bucket of water or run water over it and rub it with your hand.

Gary, nice vid and review. I heard one that this was more aggressive than say clay magic blue or Sonus Green. What are you thoughts? I would be worried that it would create marring while "claying" on soft paints.

I will know more about questionable marring issues in the next day or so.

Charlie,
When I sent you that pm the other day, this product simply peaked my curiosity. I had no idea it would be this sweet. You did say you wondered why we hadn't seen a review on it. Whoommp...there it is ha ha. Great timing Gary!!!

Gary,
As always a great review. It will be interesting to see how you like it long term. It looks like a product that's hear to stay. That just blows me away.

Bill

I was looking at this the other day, but I was afraid that it would mar the paint very easily. I might have to look back into it.

Great review Garry. I have used this product on cars that have tons of fallout and rail dust. It does a very nice job and is a time saver. However I found it can mar the finish and leave marks if you are not careful.

I am still testing this product, but I will post my findings as soon as I can use it on a black car. You have to admit regular clay will mar paint as well if you're not careful.

This seems interesting. I'm looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts on this.
I'm curious how it works on black and repaints (restored vehicles).
Great review.

Ive seen the clayblock before and have not had a chance to try it out however the fact that its washable is a BIG plus for me

I wonder how this stuff compares to clay in terms of aggressiveness?

I would say that it is more aggressive than a fine grade clay, but not even close to a medium clay like clay magic red.

I used the system today on a black 09 Mercedes C300 and didnt notice any marring whatsoever. I did shoot video and I will try to get it up tonight.

Sounds like it's probably just about right for the vast majority of situations then... I'll look forward to your video!
