Review: PakShak UltraSmooth Microfiber Towels

SilverLexus

Super Enthusiast
Well it finally warmed up enough for me to try my new PakShak UltraSmooth towels. Since I have Z-2 Pro on the car right now, I prepped the surface with a Z-6 wipedown using a Pak UltraPlush and then proceeded to use the new UltraSmooth towels for Z-8 application.

It simply worked wonderfully and these will be my new go-to towel for quick detail work. The key finding here is that Ranney and team have created just the right thickness of pile to apply qds but not so much depth to absorb too much product. The one side is slightly shorter nap which makes for excellent drying of the Z-8 following application with the slightly plusher side.

I also tried them with Crystal Mist on a Souveran spot and it worked just as well.

Packaging: A+, Sets or individual towels wrapped in clear plastic with well-written car instruction sheet.

Appearance: A+, funkadelic and psychedelic as the Talking Heads would say in rainbow colors (see below, also have a beautiful blue one I lent to my buddy Bret to try). High construction quality with soft fibers and silk edging. High fiber count.

Price: A+, $3.50 per towel with member's discount completely reasonable given quality of towel.

Performance: A+, perfect length fibers for qd work and general high quality mf duties.

Highly recommended. Perhaps my favorite microfiber yet.

I am a big fan of PakShak MF. I have all the different types they sell except the ones you just reviewed. How do they compare to the other PakShak towels like the Ultra Plush and Ultra Fine? Reading the description on their web site they seem to be marketed as a lower end towel compared to thier other ones.

I really like Pakshak products in fact that is my go to WW towel. I like those green ones you posted. Good review and i agree that they always include a nice instructions care sheet in all there orders. I recently picked up a great deal on the WW in there specials area. Got some BLEM WW for 9.00 each and although they say the silk outer edge is blemmed i can find nothing wrong with them.

I've heard from many others that they are fantastic MF's!

btw -The silver Lexus is looking very nice!

Lee ,do you feel it's safe to use the shorter nap side on the paint? I have a few pakshak ultra microfiber but I only use the plush sides as I'm concerned bout marring :noexpress

Yes I do. I have never had a PakShak towel marr the paint. The back side is very soft as well. You might want to be a bit more careful but I think there should be no problem.

I believe that emailing Ranney will make the discount available. Let me see if I can permission to post the latest prices for members...

Well?

Anthony,

They are less expensive but just as nicely constructed as their higher priced towels. I think they are holding up well also after a good first wash. If you have a need for a shorter nap towel such as for QDing then go for it. You will be happy. :)

Ranney mentioned to me awhile back that the other-side of his towel (or shorter side) is like the Ultra-fine towel used for final wipe downs. Hope that helps.

I have his new Ultra-Smooth towels. It is great and my new "GoTo" towel for product removal on a clean surface. Probably continue to use the Ultra-plush for QDing.

Well i just received one of these along with one of the New Ultra Plush towels from Pakshak as a sample with my order. And i agree with this review 100% and I really like the Ultra Plush version it has a little more fiber to it and is extremely soft. Great products from Pakshak as always. And yes they are 16x16
