Review of Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine w/ Pics

I'd love to find a quick wash answer to my need to wash my black 993 at the track.

I had thought that Optimum No Rinse was an answer, but I would still need a water source.

If there is a spigot, no problem - I just wash as usual.

But if there is no spigot, I'd like to be able to clean the car, but don't know of a surface friendly product that I can spray on/wipe off.

Suggestions are welcome; thanks!

Get one (or two) of the 5 gallon buckets with a screw on lid, or save some gallon jugs, and take your water with you to the track.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I would not even consider cleaning my car after a day at the track with a spray on cleaner (unless I didn't care about scratching my paint.)

If you can't lug 4 gallons or so of water to the track to use ONR, you should probably wait until you get someplace that you can.

I've used Poorboy's Spray and Wipe as a waterless wash for the minor jobs and it works fine.

....this would be my suggestion as well. Personally, I have the 5 gallon bucket with the Gamma Seal lid and dolly from AutoGeek: (5 Gallon Wash Bucket System with Dolly - RED). For portability I can just throw in a grit gaurd, premix an ONR solution, screw on the top before I head out and I'm good to go. I also opted for the seat cushion which helps turn the bucket/dolly combo into a rolling chair. :) Obviously, you don't need all of the extra add-ons/gadgets.

usplastics has 5 gal buckets, grit guards and gamma seal lids (and in different colors) for a reasonable price.

Holy crap those are cheap. And to think some places charge 5 times that price.

I just used ONR for my first time the other day as well. Filled up my bucket with 2 gallons of distilled water and the ounce of ONR as per label and it worked like a charm. 108 degrees and in direct sunlight, and no nasty water spots at all. Only thing was that my WW was in the wash so I had to use a bunch of 14x14 MF and it sucked haha.

I'm thinking this is the only way to wash here in the AZ summers for me fow :chuckle:

I have been washing in my work shop (30X50' semi-finished pole building) after work. ONR is great because I don't get home until 1am. I can park my truck, wash and QD it and not have to move it when I'm done.

I also don't wake neighborhood with the gas-PW :spit:

I'm new and this wasn't addressed here:

How does ONR work for cars caked with salt /dirt from the winter? Should I use a hose? Or should I just do a bunch more whipes with gentle pressure?

Great pics and writeup
