Review of Mother's Mini Powerball

I bought this kit today at Advanced Auto Parts and it worked out very well. This is basically a foam sphere that rests on the end of 7" extension rod with a plastic black covering. It attaches to a drill and I used a DeWalt with 18V battery.

I used P21S Polishing Soap which is one of my faves but Mothers also has some great polishes. Here is the setup:

After:

After 2:

Strengths:

Effective polishing system

Cleans up easily with dishwashing soap

Reasonable price of $20

Weaknesses:

Bit difficult to attache the foam ball to the extension rod

No sample polishing stuff included

Despite minor quibbles...Highly recommended. :waxing:

Thanks for the review...I've been looking at this for sometime to polish my exhaust tips as well, but I have got a couple of questions that I hope you could answer:

Could you elaborate on your technique and product(s) used?

Did the powerball leave residue on the bumber around the pipes or worse, burn the bumper?

Is the powerball made from aggressive or finishing foam?

Thanks in advance...MCA

I just set the DeWalt on the highest speed and moved the drill back and forth along the long side and sideways around the pipe. There is a review I posted a while back on the soap I used.

I stayed away from the bumper as I was worried about damage. I used the somewhat stiff sponge that comes with the P21S soap. It works well but not as much as the Powerball.

I think the powerball is more toward the mild side of aggressiveness in foam. I think the twisting and lots of foam "fingers" do the cleaning.

Thanks for the review, I have the regular size and the mini. They both work well and are nice to have as they do speed up polishing.

I love My Powerball but, I have only used it twice and it is starting to come apart, I am wondering how it compares to the Flitz ball??

How do I know if I can use polish on my rims? I have an '04 G35 with OEM rims.

I dont quite understand your question.

Use polish that says clear coat safe or something to that affect.

$30.00???? I have seen it at Autozone and Pep Boys for $20 ish.

Ive seen the mini-ball at 29.95 and the normal ball for 24.95.

If it can handle the pressure of a professional detailer, Ill buy a few of em.

Hey SilverLexus,

How is the foam density compared to the regular Power Ball?? I am looking for something to get into the tight areas of certain styles of grills/spoilers.

I love my full size Power Ball! It has been extremely durable and effective.

Thanks

Tim

I just cant justify spending 30 dollars on a ball of foam.

What is the longevity of this product?

Well ok, lets put this in perspective, take a pic of foam in your hand and polish your rims it at 2000rpm's.

Ya cant uh? The power ball can......

Tim...

I have both. The density appears to be the same. It looks like its made from the same material.

At $6.99 I might consider buying it, but IMHO isn't worth any more than that... You can get as good or better results by hand with a 99 cent terrycloth applicator......

When they come out with a 6pack of them it might be useful! ;)

What you can do by hand i can do in 1/4 the time if not faster than that with the powerball.
