Review of Carlack 68 polish

I've not read any discussion about actual use of this product before so I'm not sure whether anyone else has used it.



Several other UK Autopians mentioned that Carlack 68 is virutally the same as AIO, the main difference being the packaging (bright yellow 1000mls contained).



It's described as being an acrylic polymer polish but the packaging on my bottle is entirely in German.



I've posted the results in Click & Brag but here's my brief review.



APPEARANCE



White thick liquid, similar in appearance to SRP and with a faint chemical smell



APPLICATION



I followed the BCC guidelines to AIO application, using an MF pad and around a 1" drop of product per panel. Wiped product on and worked in straight lines back and forth. Allowed product to haze then wiped off with MF towel



EASE OF USE



A+!!! Wipe on, buff off - it's that simple!



ADDITIONAL NOTES



I topped with KSG, with excellent results but this was only 24 hours ago so durability remains to be seen - if it's as close to AIO as I've been led to believe then I have little reason to doubt that with proper washing maintenance it will give me several months' protection



Overall an impressive product thus far with its ease of use being a real winning factor for me.
 
I wonder if they are essentially the same product, just marketed under different names?

Not sure Scott - I'm planning to send a sample to one of the UK guys who's used AIO already. Not a particularly scientific test I know but it may tell us how close the 2 products are
 
Andy... as 'ram' said, AIO is a tan colour - also, it's not as thick as SRP. Still could be essentially the same though... making a product a different colour and to a slightly different consistency isn't rocket science I suppose.



Seeing as you topped with KSG, I presume you got your package in the post?
 
I've heard many times that Carlack actually produces Klasse. I started using it after Klasse stopped being sold in Australia. Although luckily we can get it in 300, 500 and 1000ml bottles, 1ltr would last me a life time :)



Either way it's an excellent product.
 
Interesting, we do have a a few distributors in Asia, if it's the same I would get this instead , more convenient and cheaper for me . Do keep us updated ;)

When I first used Klasse (â€â„¢60) it was sold in England in metal cans (looked like solvent cans) Poly-Lack (SG) gray can and Car-Lack (AIO) was a red can, which used to be a thin white liquid but they have changed the formula since then (â€â„¢86) which may account for the differences.
 
Where I am currently, there are 2 version of Carlack68. One in a yellow bottle and one in a Red bottle. The Distributor told me that the only difference was the longevity of the protection. The yellow bottle being more expensive is more durable. The color seems to be like SG Milky white. I have not had the chance to test them out.
 
Did anyone have a chance to compare the two, Carlack and AIO to each other.



I am not sure not weather to go and grab some, purely for the reason I have about 8 litres of super resin still, How do the two compare Andy?

I live in Thailand and we have a Carlack distributor for like 20 years.



What country do you live?



If the Carlack is an appropriate substitue for AIO then I'll use it before applying Zaino Z2



Do you guys think it ok?
 
To my knowledge. I have used Carlack 68 for quite sometimes now, but not AIO. There are two types of them in my country. One is a bit in tan color. The oter one is in white fluid.I read from bettercarcare.com and found some similarities in its ingredients. It uses polymer and arcylic as the main ingredients. The white fluid is for a uniform coat after you use the tan one. The main use is to let both of them dry approx half-45 minutes...

I'm in Brunei btw and there's a distributor for carlack68 in Singapore where I drop by from time to time. :)



If it's similar to AIO, then it should be alright to use before Zaino
 
Cheers for the info on getting this stuff Andy. Popped down there to get some this morning as they said they are there on a Saturday morning, I see what you mean about the roads just a little bit dirty! Was a bit further than I thought about 30 miles from me.



The Carlack seems to be good have just tried it on a few panels. Goes on very easily and wipes of just the same with no dusting or hard work. As you said it looks like AG super resin but seems thinner. Leaves a very slick surface. Apperance wise it looked as good alone as the VM, EX, P21s panel next to it.



I notice you applied it with a MF pad, any reason that that may be better than a foam hand pad ( they are all I have)?

Glad you're liking it Rich.



I used an MF pad simply for a bit more bite/mild cleaning ability from the product. Plus I prefer MF pads for applying pretty much everything apart from waxes - just a personal preference.



It's still looking good on the Astra too - albeit the car's filthy at the moment.



And I'm keeping the 205 too - took her out for a spin last night for the first time in nearly 3 months and decided she's too much fun to sell - what a mug!
 
Alex - about £2 or £3 per pad but they're really nice to work with, esp with VMW hand glaze
